it now seems that being compared to birds should be considered a compliment.

What was the last really great book I've read that was written by a chicken???

This is absurd.

Chickens have been domesticated for quite a long time, and if there were any discernible intelligence in the bird, it would have been recognized long ago, as, for instance, various degrees of intelligence have been recognized in various breeds of dogs.

Meet Mike the headless chicken who survived for 18 months without a head. So tell me, exactly how important is a brain to a chicken and why should we worry about their welfare??

What I want to know is, did that chicken have a name before losing its head, or did someone look at a headless chicken and say, "Yeah, he looks like a 'Mike' to me."

I was going to post a picture of Emily Littella with a commentary about all these cruel teenage boys who are choking chickens and how terrible it is...and cruel... killing these poor defenseless birds and how these evil teenage boys get off doing it.... all sorts of bad puns... ending with the signature "Nevermind..."... but everyone beat me to it with their own take...
