Rumsfeld: Al-Jazeera Promotes Terrorism
SFGATE.COM ^ | JUNE 4, 2005 | ASSOCIATED PRESS WIRE

Posted on 06/04/2005 8:46:16 PM PDT by CHARLITE

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld said Saturday the Al-Jazeera television network promoted terrorism by airing beheadings and other attacks.

"If anyone here lived in the Middle East and watched a network like Al-Jazeera day after day after day, even if you were an American you would begin to believe that America was bad," Rumsfeld told an Asian defense conference.

"Quite honestly, I do not get up in the morning and think that America is what's wrong with the world. The people that are going on television, chopping off people's heads is what's wrong with the world.

"And television networks that carry it and promote it and are Johnny-on-the-spot every time there's a terrorist act are promoting it," he said.

Qatar-based Al-Jazeera, a pan-Arab station, denies it holds any anti-American bias and says it reports the news objectively.

"Al-Jazeera television network promoted terrorism by airing beheadings and other attacks."

Believe it or not, someone FReep mailed me objecting to a photo I posted about 3 weeks ago, which showed a Muslim holding a long, bloody scimitar in his right hand, and the freshly severed head of a victim in his left hand.

The caption on the photo said: "The real ISLAM!"

The FR member was very insistent that I NOT post any more photos showing such things! I don't know if the person is a Muslim, or not. However, if Al Jazeera stopped airing beheadings and other atrocious, barbaric acts of islamofascist terror, they would go out of business.

The funny thing is that Air America uses a basically identical programming strategy, but they don't have anything like this kind of success.

I love Rummy too, but isn't it kind of obvious that aljazeera is the magaphone for terrorism?

I doubt that it's so obvious in the media world; to them al-Jazeera is a reflection of a Muslim culture that we should understand, embrace, and even emulate, so long as they do not Lie (and the utterance of any official of the Republican Party or any member of the Bush Administration constitutes a "Lie" unless another classification advances the Liberal agenda)

The truth would include what the Adiministration plans to do about it besides the critique. Nothing, I'm afraid.

And if you lived in America and listened to our MSM, Air America, certain Senators, several movies and the entire Liberal Left you would also come to the exact same conclusion.

"And if you lived in America and listened to our MSM, Air America, certain Senators, several movies and the entire Liberal Left you would also come to the exact same conclusion."

This is why I don't see how we can truly defeat islamofascism (and end Islam forever), unless we also expose and discredit liberalism as well. The state of liberalism in this country (nevermind in "old Europe," also) is so blatantly anti-American, that it most definitely is contributing to the problems we are having in the war on terror.

...and for "dufekin," did you ever think about the whole theme of "THE LIE," as political weaponry, started up by these Democrats immediately following arguably the most dishonest presidency ("co-presidency") in American history?

I believe that it is precisely because their "beloved" Bill Clinton (aided and abetted by his wife, the empress) were both such flagrant LIARS, that the current Democrat strategy is to paint our beloved President Bush as "liar" to even the score, or "level the playing field."

It is outrageous and inexcusable. Maybe George W. Bush has a fault here and there, but DISHONESTY isn't one of them!

It is outrageous and inexcusable

It's more than just that, it borders on traitorous actions.  They are so hellbent at destroying the President that they are fabricating stories, blowing minor stories into epic proportions and burying stories that are important.  On several occasions they seem to have info, pix or stories that could only have been attained if they had contact or outright collaboration with the enemy.

They also tried unsuccessfully to influence an election and lobbied daily in an attempt to accomplish this fact.

Thank the Lord for Fox News, Free Republic and other dedicated, honest brokers of the truth. I have to think that we made a difference in the last election. We can do it again. It's not like "old times" for the liberal media. That's one very big change for us.

So........LET'S ROLL!!

In my estimation, George W. Bush never stood taller than when he addressed the Congress and the nation, following 9/11, and ended his speech with, "My fellow Americans, Let's Roll." At that point, he guaranteed his place in history as one of our greatest presidents, and time will prove this to be accurate.
