PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President and First Lady are spending the weekend at their Crawford ranch. Undoubtedly Barney and Beezie are with them, but no new photos have turned up on Yahoo News Photos. (Sigh.) British Prime Minister Tony Blair will be visiting the President at the White House on Tuesday. The meeting is intended to be preparatory to the G8 Summit to be held in Scotland next month. They are expected to talk about aid to Africa, as well as the status of things in Afghanistan and Iraq.
THE WEEK AHEAD: From White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan's press gaggle yesterday.
Monday, the President will be going to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to make remarks at the opening of the general assembly for the Organization of American States. Then when he gets back to the White House, he'll make remarks on the South Lawn for Black Music Month. There will be a White House Black Music Month reception.
Tuesday, the President welcomes Prime Minister Blair back to the White House. Following their meeting, they will participate in a joint -- it's an afternoon meeting, they'll participate in a joint press availability. That's scheduled for the East Room at this point. And then they will have dinner after the joint press availability.
Wednesday, the President meets with Prime Minister Erdogan at the White House in the Oval Office, and then he will be making remarks on strengthening Social Security later in the day.
Thursday, GWB travels to Colombus, Ohio, where he will make remarks on the Patriot Act. Congress is considering legislation to reauthorize the Patriot Act right.
Friday, the President will go to McLean, Virginia, where he will tour the National Counterterrorism Center. And then he will meet with President Roh in the Oval Office later that day.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: From the Presidential Radio Address today.
America's economy is on the right track. Over the past two years, we've added more than 3.5 million new jobs. More Americans are working today than ever before. Home ownership is at an all time high. Small businesses are flourishing. Factory output is growing. And families are taking home more of what they earn.
These are hopeful signs for our economy, and we must work hard to sustain that prosperity. When members of Congress return next week, they need to take action on four key priorities for the American people. [The President then discussed each of the four points. I looking at buying a laptop sometime in the next couple of months. One with wireless capability that will let me get on the internet wherever there's a "hot spot." I need to learn mor about it, though, before investing the money.
I know. Isn't it just the most annoying thing. The constant whining from the Dims and their Leftist fellow travelers in the media just makes me want to scream sometimes.
Liking babies obviously runs in the family
I genuinely believe he is good with babies this one is fast asleep
The real danger in what Kerry is doing is this: If the Dims can succeed in drumming up enough of a media firestorm (and we know they have plenty of willing accomplices in the media), there are always enough yellow-bellied or selfish Republicans in Congress who will cave to the pressure.
Good day, snugs. Those photos warm my heart. Just wait until the Bush-Blair press conference a few days from now. How much you want to bet that the media WON'T bring up the nonsense about the memo. Grrrr...
How true, but these are different times...we have Fox News, the internet(FR and blogs)..there will be a fight this time...the MSM is not in complete control as they were in the 70's.....
You better believe it. I would defend our Dubya with every breath that's in me.
Do you reckon they will also be reference to the poodle
Yesterday in Chicago came a storm like a banshee and quick, too ... couldn't even see across the street .. trees bent, and the wind .. oh my.. just blowing .. rattling my blinds, shutting my windows with a thunk .. really furious velocity, and then in 20 mins. it was gone. It's very humid today, and looks like the predicted bad cell is east and moving that way.
New Bush Babes

"Can you believe Dean's actually that stupid?!!!""
Mike(hubby) is on his way home from Chicago as I type...he told me of the storm yesterday....he has my car and there better not be any hail damage....LOL
I wouldn't be at all surprised, although it would likely be one of your reporters who'd ask such an insulting question.
No time to chat today, but will observe that Jimmuh Carter went hot-footing it down the Venezuela to prop up Chavey and declare the election valid when every indication was that it a) was rift with fraud and b) that Chavez wouldn't have won.
So let's start leveling a little responsibility squarely where it belongs for the deteriorating situation in Latin America. Wonder if Carter or sKerry has dropping in to see their good friends the Ortega's recently??

Good evening Dosers!
Chavey = Chavez
Hi snugs, I see the Queen is missing a week in Scotland
due to the G8 and the crowd control situation.
Am fed up with the left's created farce on the koran and
this am on tv the so called gulag in Guantanamo according
to ammesty int. They are banging away making the terrorist
as victims. This is part of the mindless propaganda
against Bush along with Kerry's impeachment craperola.
All this to make Bush ineffective.
I hear everyday in public so many against the president.
Between public schools, universities, MSM, etc. the
general public is as brainwashed as the 1930s nazi's.
Yes, I can. I can also believe that Kerry is that stupid and bitter, and that there's enough stupid, bitter, selfish, meanspirited people on both sides of the isle to make life miserable for GWB for the rest of his term. But the Dims are the worst. Hungry for power and full of the most sour bile.
Personally, I just think it's insulting. Whatever else Blair may or may not be, he definitely is nobody's poodle! Besides, questions like that start from the premise that going into Iraq was the wrong thing to do. It was not.

The peasant's revolt
Simon Jenkins went to Holland to see the death throes of old Europe and found himself witnessing a rebellion that is both thrilling and laced with menace
In Brussels the mannequin pis winked. In Holland the boy took his finger from the dyke. In Paris Marianne bared not her breast but her buttock. The cock crowed, the lion roared, the bear growled. Bliss it was last week to be alive and in Amsterdam, the city which since the 17th century has embodied civic autonomy and global commerce. It has just perpetrated a revolution and can hardly believe it.
