Militant's letter warns of more attacks
Karachi, Pakistan ^ | Jun. 3, 2005

Pakistani police say they found a letter warning of more attacks in the pocket of a militant killed in a mosque attack in Karachi earlier this week.

The letter, signed by Asif Chotu, the current head of Sunni militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, claimed responsibility for the mosque attack in which five people died including two attackers, and several others were wounded, the BBC reported. The group was banned in Pakistan in 2001.

Chief investigator Manzoor Moghul said it was Asif Chotu's style to leave his signature. He is believed to be an expert in making bombs and is said to have trained Lashkar activists in suicide bombings.

Police are interrogating one suspect -- identified only as Tehseen -- who survived the mosque attack.

Well, if they are going to attack Mosques and kill people they better be careful that they don't harm any Qurans. Killing people is fine but messing up very thin pieces of trees is a no-no.

I wish the media would get this right. Suicide bombers and perps do not count as people killed. Our nearby Flight 93 Memorial gets it right by excluding the hijackers from the list of people killed.

Oh, so they're allowed to attack mosques? Or are imams roundly denouncing them as apostates and enemies of Islam?

As if a report in The Washington Times is going to amplify a threat that would already be all over the news in Pakistan. By the way, why would the police be talking to the press if doing so was so helpful to the terrorists?

Umm... passing on news is aiding terrorism?

That depends on what "passing" means.

In time your type of aid to terror will be dealt with suitably.

Know what, that sounds like a physical threat. Cal, if you want to report that to the mods, I'll back you up.

"Pakistani police say they found a letter warning of more attacks in the pocket of a militant killed in a mosque attack in Karachi earlier this week."

Does this sentence say that more people are going to be killed in attacks on mosques, or attacks in the pocket of a person killed in a mosque attack?

Warning to all Pakistanis: Stay out of the pockets of people going into mosques.
