"We need healthy immigration," said King. "We should go around the world and recruit the best people we can get. We just simply can't be the relief valve for all the poverty in the world."

The gig is up. The cat is out of the bag. The cows have come home and the dogs are barking on the front porch. This will be a long hot summer.

Career politicians everywhere are shaking in their boots and tossing in their beds at night scared $hi!less they are going to actually have to do something for Americans.

This is funny and very true about all the candidates in the past 2004 election skirting and sidestepping the most crucial issue challenging the future of this nation.

Now that neglect and disrespect for the American voter has come back to bite their entire ar$e off . .

"Immigration is the big sleeping issue that seems to be the subject that no one wanted to touch in the last presidential campaign, the subject that these presidential candidates don't want to touch, but it's something that Iowans and Americans want to have a national debate on," said King.

"...We just simply can't be the relief valve for all the poverty in the world."

let's hope that soon the average voter-dem or pub-can 'realize' the deterioration of our socio-economic position, and, oh, that national security thing....

I see a retraction coming from Rep King any day now after he accepts an invitation to the White House.

Unfortunately, there are not enough troops to go around. Moreover, this type of duty would dull a unit's tactical combat skills.

IMO we would only need troops on the border for the initial stop. A month or two at the most, When illegals found we are serious about stopping their walking across the desert they would soon slow to a point where a few border patrol agents could handle the problem.

The problem right now is we arent seriously trying to stop this illegal entry and Mexico and their people know it.

Whooooaaa.... Stop the Presses. Hold the Phone.

A Politician talking sense about Immigration???

Wow.

And of course the irony is he is from Iowa. Or maybe, it makes perfect sense that he would be from Iowa.

I dont know much about Rep. King (not being from Iowa, y'see) but he just became a major sized BLIP on my radar screen.

Lets see how far he gets with his cohorts on Capitol Hill.

Maybe he gets a guest appearance on O'Reilly's show as a consolation prize.

Let's hope that the American people follow this common sense plan. Let's hope that Europeans also awaken to reality and follow a similar plan.

Hillary will LIE her way to a Presidential victory with the promise of cracking down on Illegal immigration. She smells blood with this issue.

We need to get this ugly situation under control before she runs.

We do need more LEGAL immigrants, and that is what some are missing, but at the same time we need to reverse the flow of illegals. Putting the guard on the border is not the solution, because they are overworked now. W needs to fire and use the extra 2,000 border guards that congress funded.

They still have to deport all the poverty they let in. That is here illegally.

I will reserve judgment on King's legislation when I can see the written form. Repeal all laws giving legal standing to illegals. End the unconstitutional abhorrence of "anchor babies". No educational benefits for illegals. No welfare for illegals.

Seal the borders. Deport all illegal aliens.

Lets end this ridiculous argument that we don't have enough laborers to do the jobs most Americans won't do. Our prisons are full of cheap labor and I grew up n Oregon picking fruit to make extra money as a kid. Eliminate the age restrictions and let kids go out and work in the fields again.

Sorry to stray from current topic, there is a site that rates Senators/Congressmen etc on their immigration policies. I am so far pretty impressed with Missouri's Jim Talent and Gov Roy Blunt, I wanted to check that site but didn't bookmark. Do you/or anyone know it?

King said the measure he's pushing would put in place severe financial penalties for companies hiring illegal workers, ending the companies' ability to take deductions on wages and benefits for those workers.

"That will change the dynamic of this," said King. "That will slow the growth in this job magnet that's driving our illegal immigration."

Bingo. That's the catalyst to begin deportation.

I would like to believe that our congress critters would vote in support of his bill, but I've lost faith in them doing what is right for America/Americans!
