DES MOINES, IA - Rep. Steve King, R- Iowa, called Friday for deploying the military to seal the borders against illegal immigration, coupled with new financial penalties for companies that hire illegals.

"The destination of America is going to be shaped alot by immigration policy," said King, who said he will introduce legislation "in the next several weeks."

Potent words!

"Even if it were possible, we would never do it."

"Like most social issues, it's all symbolism."

Now the fact that you are willing to promote the existence of legislators who perform symbolisms tells me that witch doctors are permitted in your area of reasoning also.

Myself, I hire people who deal with facts and only facts. I don't promote or vote for legislators who want symbolisms.

Something else that seems a little weird, when people in the United States(and on this forum) refer to Bush, it's as President Bush or Bush never Mr. Bush. Yet in his post #54 he referred to Bush as Mr. Bush.

Under Mr. Bush's proposal

How about using VISA &/or Master Charge for approving and keeping track of legal employees

They seem to rip up credit cards on the spot if a bad account is caught by phone/internet checks in mere seconds

Shred their state driver's license, illegal SS cards, other ID on the spot

If illegal aliens have a votor registration listed with the City Clerk - take them out and feed them to hungry gators!

If that seems extreme, think about the movie "Hannibal" - Heh Heh

Give merchants and their employees a bounty/bonus for mailing illegal alien's IDs

Take their photo (head shot) like merchants and banks and gun dealers do

Either that - or require a 5-15 day waiting period for feds to clear new employees and checks and licenses and IDs by those without credible info and US IDs

If that does not work - Col. Colt is willing and able

Mr. Senator - Mr. Congress(person-thing)

- Please list all of the federal criminal statutes and IRS regs that I can ignore and break please.....

Steve King! LOL, at first I thought of Steven King the author.

The government can keep track of what they want to keep track of. It reminds me of a 'semi-joke' I once got in email about Mad Cow Disease.

It said; The government is able to locate one cow, in one herd, in one barn, in one town, in one state, that was imported from TimBuckToo if it needs to.

Good points.
But actually only two thousand new people would be needed. One thousand field investigators, 500 support staff, 400 USAAGs, 50 judges, 50 Bailiff/Marshals.

Start with asset seizure, and the problem would disappear.
Farm lands would be low priority along with attendants to the disabled, but focus on construction sites, auto body shops and other well known offenders i.e. the local landscape guy. Problem solved.

For once I agree with you. It's all symbolism. (Now to clean up the coffee I spilled!)

How about a $5,000 bond to work in the US?

12 Million $5000.00 = 60 Billion a year. If they get sick or go to jail they forfeit the bond, and that money would pay for the deportation, hospital and jail. They work without trouble, lawbreaking etc; they pay Federal, State, Local taxes and keep the bond.

Make them get medicals and some sort of ID, then they could also get drivers licenses. They must pay the smugglers that much to get into the CONUS as it is.

Employers could fund it with the same rules- it gets forfeited to the Feds if they break the law, sick, etc.

The Feds could use it to pay the deficit.

If the illegals want equal treatment, they have to act as law abiding citizens.

"What is needed is Border Patrol agent numbers vastly increased. Two thousand is a joke. That number probably could be increased to 12-15,000 easily. The only concern I have about that is the union of the BP getting far too powerful. But I'll still take those short-term problems to increase border security and to keep soldiers off that border."

Very thoughtful, intelligent comment!

Well, given that California is losing over 10,000,000,000 a year alone, I would say there would be a net cost in the tens of billions!

This brave Congressman will receive a letter soon that will say "Don't darken the doors of the White House again".

Thumbs up for Congressman King!

Sealing the border would be a good start.

it represents protectionism for US workers

Maybe some protectionism is exactly what America needs at this point in the invasion.

"Sealing the border would be a good start."

Will Rogers' solution to the problem of the German subs was to heat the oceans up to 200 degrees. That would have been a good start too.

The border can not be sealed.

Why forfeit it to the Feds? They are the ones who aren't doing their jobs! Forfeit directly to the agency bearing the costs.

That's a great idea for workers, what about bringing their kids in. Now you know all the costs associated with pregnant women, births and little kids. How do you handle them?

There is nothing in Will Rogers solution that links to our problem.

The only other alternative is to give in to the over-run of the US from the rest of the world and make your citizenship worthless....Is this what you profess?

If there wasn't any benefit to coming here the borders would seal themselves. Stop all the Freebies and replace them with Punishments.

Just like water finds its own level, so will immigration. As long as we need more workers more will come. When all the jobs are filled they will stop.
