You are full of it Bayou. Deputize All leo's to enforce All laws; including immigration. I hope you and the other pro illegal alien supporters are saving your money. You are going to have to pay the fines or join them in jail for hiring persons of unkown origin. We are at war.

There are plenty of troops in places that could be put on the border without a huge manpower increase. There's also the National Guard.

We could easily raise the manpower by letting all sex offenders out on parole with the understanding they have to finish the rest of the sentence as BP AND as a spif, they get to grope every illegal they apprehend. Just watch the number of arrests skyrocket!!!

We could expend $16 million per mile for the entire 2500 mile length and still save more than the $41 billion a year the illegal aliens cost taxpayers.

Light at the end of the tunnel?

"The destination of America is going to be shaped alot by immigration policy," said King, who said he will introduce legislation "in the next several weeks."

If all our soldiers are walking the border who's going to fight our wars?
If all our police are busy chasing suspected illegals who is going to protect us from criminals?

Who's next on you list of border duty conscripts?
Fireman? Who would fight the fires?
Mail men? Who would deliver the mail?
Teachers? Who would teach our students?
Proctologists?

Private contractors may become involved if there ever is a mass exodus of illegal aliens back to Mexico (for whatever reason).

You are working under the assumption that every single mile would require 25 guards. I will suggest that number can be reduced to 6. Daylight crossings are not common. 3 guards for 24 hours performing actual guard/spotter duty per mile. 3 roving guards performing armed control per mile. Remember one armed man can control 100 unarmed men.

$175,000 ANNUALLY per guard seems reasonable considering rear support, etc.

$459,375,000,000.00 would be reduced to 1.15 billion. Just slightly over the one day cost of the war in Iraq.

If all public benefit applicants were scanned for US citizens only and employers were required to use 888-464-4218 before hiring anyone the costs of public benefit would be reduced rapidly. Quite so much that I am positive there would be a cost savings.

The majority of people in the country illegally originally enter legally. No number of border guards would change that.

And if we could seal the 2000 mile Mexican border, there is still the remaining 103,000 shoreline and other land borders. Remember the boat people?

And most drugs are brought in by plane, sea and by bribing guards at crossing points. Those routes would be used to smuggle illegals if the land borders were sealed.

Trying to seal the border is a useless exercise in wasteful spending. Only token efforts will ever be made, and only to appease a small but vocal group that doesn't recognize the futility of the exercise.

All our soldiers are Not in the AOR. I dont think Iraq could handle the 2 million active duty DOD'ers. That's not counting the reservists or guardsmen.

Illegals ARE criminals. The police generally go after criminals, dont they?

Who do you think the Minutemen were? They werent racists - just average Joe's who are fed up with the border and immigration situation.

F the RINO pubbies. I want someone who fixes problems and does not create unsolveable intractable problems by neglect or design. If they are not solving the problem they are part of it. Pimping for the RINOs and illegal aliens and those that hire them will get you nowhere with me and the vast majority of US citizens.

We have troops today in 135 countries. Are we at war with the world?

"Benefit" as in social security, welfare, public services, etc., - right?

What would be the best way to get the feds to enforce the employers to stay away from illegal labor?

Remember, as Freepers, we believe in the rule of law. Loyal Americans insist on protecting American sovereignty, secure borders, and the preservation of American culture, customs, traditions and language. Those are our values.

Do you share those same values? A couple of points need to be clarified. First, President Bush has signed a law prohibiting an illegal immigrant from receiving benefits due to his/her unauthorized status in the U.S. No illegal is dipping into the public coffers

Second, guest worker proposals, such as President Bush’s plan, are not amnesty programs. Under Mr. Bush's proposal, illegal aliens will not be granted automatic and immediate legal status. They would only be eligible to receive a temporary worker permit, and the ability to apply later on for permanent legal status, where they will not get to “cut in line” in front of existing applicants. There is no guarantee that they would ever obtain permanent legal status in the U.S.

There are 12 millon illegals in America. They are not going away, they are a vital part of our economy. We had best figure out a way to "regularize" their status, and I think President Bush;'s propsal is very enlightened.

Poltically speaking, this is a good move. It will ensure that Hispanics will vote Republican. The Dems, who are acting like knuckle dragging nativists on this issue, are alienating Hispanic Americans.

Short prison terms, not jail house actual prison sentencing and financial restrictions.

Well that solves it for me, are you a troll or have you taken over Teplukin's account. Because on this very day in another thread you took the exact opposite view. So, please do explain or is this a matter for the Moderators? Here is your other post today,

Many Mexicans believe the US stole their land in the Mexican American war. They think that Arizona & NM, by rights, belong to them. This, of course, is wrong. To the victor belong the spoils. And we won that war by virtue of valor, smarts, and repeat rifles.

Gentlemen, the question is this: Will we defend our borders, our country and our families Or will we passively surrender what our forebears fought so hard to achieve?
This is the harsh truth: the time is coming, we all must take up arms to defend families, our Protestant Faith and our Country

"You are working under the assumption that every single mile would require 25 guards. I will suggest that number can be reduced to 6"

A year ago there were 11,000 border guards patrolling the 2,000 mile Mexican border. That's a ratio of 5.5 guards per mile. And the anti-illegals still call that an "open border". If 5.5 is "open border", 6 isn't going to be "sealed border."

And even if you reduced the cost, you still have the ability of 50 million per year jumping the border. (Plus the majority of illegals now who enter legally and stay after they become illegal).

"Sealing the border" is a political scam. Even if it were possible, we would never do it. But Congress will add a token number of guards and build a few fences just to make the anti-illegals feel better. Like most social issues, it's all symbolism.

. If this dingleheaded Congresman succeeds in cutting off the supply of cheap, hard working Mexican labor, inflation will result.

I nominate that for the most ignorant post on any FR thread, ever.
