Usually just showing the cattle. They show in classes according to breed, then further broken down by either birthdate or weight. From the class winners, they pick a breed winner, and then an overall winner from the breed winners.
Once in awhile they have a judging contest where the kids judge the cattle, placing groups of four cattle. Morgan won an 8th place last week out of several hundred kids. Sometimes they also have speech or poster contests. But usually just the cattle show.
In one part of the show they judge the animals; in "showmanship" they judge how the child presents the animal. That's my favorite part.
Before they show, they cattle are all prettied up to show off their best assets and minimize flaws. THe cattle are washed, blowed dry with big blowers, and then clipped. Sometimes (if it's not against the rules) they cut up twine and glue it on, then spray paint it to match the cow's hair, if they need it. It's a pretty big production.
Unfortunately, in many, many years of knowing mr.h and going to cattle shows, I have not learned to distinguish the features of a good cow vs. a bad one. I've tried, but just can't . . . so I just repeat what everyone else says. :-)

Haven't even started painting yet, we probably won't start until the beginning of August...Mike's leaving for Chicago again tomorrow for a few days and then in July he has to be at Ft Campbell for two weeks......in the mean time he's getting estimates to put up a privacy fence in our backyard...with the new patio, he wants it enclosed.......and I am going to refinish Jon's old bedroom furniture for Brandon....lots of sanding and staining, or maybe I'll paint it...haven't decided......I only have two bedrooms and laundry room to paint, but there never seems to be enough time.
Did you get any of that stuff??

I've just talked with Mr. Oh, and he doesn't see any reason for us not to get together on Monday.
