"I have absolutely no intention of backing down" . Rick Roberts
The Lawyer for atheist Philip Paulson, James McElroy, has told five San Diego area personalities that he will file a legal challenge next week to the proposed wording of a July 26th City of San Diego ballot initiative. The initiative will determine the fate of the Cross located on City land atop Mt. Soledad in La Jolla, CA..
The personalities includes KFMB radio talk show host Rick Roberts, KOGO radio talk show host Roger Hedgecock, San Diego Padres baseball club announcer Jerry Coleman, Congressman Randy Duke Cunningham, and SoledadNational.com Director Phil Thalheimer.
McElroy claims that a number of their statements on the ballot are false and misleading. Some statements at issue include, as in the case with Mount Soledad, wherever veterans are honored with the symbols of the fallen, an intolerant few will launch frivolous lawsuits that waste our tax dollars Another statement the atheist lawyer is challenging says, in 2004, the President of the United States signed legislation designating the Mount Soledad site as a National War Memorial, necessitating the land transfer.
On Friday, Roberts indicated by phone that he and the others will defend the wording in court. The heritage of San Diego which includes the La Jolla Cross. Donations for that cause are being taken by both radio announcers and www.SoledadNational.com.
Roberts also appears as a regular stand in for Michael Savages nationally syndicated radio show. While Hedgecock substitutes for Rush Limbaugh occasionally. Coleman was recently elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as a radio announcer. Induction ceremonies are to take place this summer

Heard this while listening to him this morning.
Outrageous!
While we're at it, why not remove all those crosses from Arlington. /sarc
May the ACLU, its lawyers and anyone who ever donated over ten cents to it rot in hell.
Dennis Prager did a little "war of the worlds" bit where he said that the ACLU was suing to have the lower-case "t" removed from all government documents unless it had tail, because they looked like crosses. It was a cute trick that he played on his audience.
I fell for it hook line and sinker, and that was his point. There is nothing that the ACLU would do anymore in their pursuit of godlessness that you won't believe. You don't have to be a gullible person, either.
How long until the bulldozers roll through Arlington?
Yes, the anti-God, anti-American radicals ride again!!!
Missed that one. Good. Good. The days of the week have to go, also, since they are the names of gods -- Wodensday, Thorsday etc.
No, they're pagan gods. There's an exemption for all non-Judeo-Christian religions - didn't you get the ACLU memo?
And the worst thing about it is that the ACLU lawyers will be paid by TAXPAYER MONEY!
Moral Absolutes Ping.
The ACLU is really on a roll. Don't forget, folks, that the head dude Anthony Romero, is a noted homosexual activist lawyer.
The ACLU needs de-fanging fast. I hope you read the other article (or was it two already?) I pung out about the ACLU. They are truly an evil organization and it looks as though their motives are truly vile and treasonous.
I mean, why else would they knowingly try to destroy all that is good about this country?
Let me know if you want on/off this pinglist.
how do we have this stopped?
Who do we contact, the ACLU SHOULD NOT BE FUNDED by the People.
Can't the ACLU be sued for keeping me from my civil rights? The right to worship. The right to have my religious symbols displayed. They do this for the terrorists scum in "the gulag" but they deny we U.S. citizens of the same rights.
Sue the ACLU. Make them pay. Class action suit possible by church members?
This is an absolutely legendary statement and I would pay money to see this language included on ANY ballot.
Ethnic Cleansing, American Style.
Any chances the mountain name is a shortened form of the Spanish Nuestra Senora de Soledad, "Our Lady of Solitude"? I'd suggest filing a satirical amicus curiae brief arguing that the name should similarly be changed, but I fear it would be taken seriously.
Not one person on the Executive Board of the ACLU is a practicing Christian. Hence we have this kind of assault
Ah, a glimpse into the future with the atheistic fascists in charge. Freedom of speech for me, but not for thee. Not a surprise since they are trying to make atheism the state religion, and using the 1st Ammendment to make their case!
RICO
Contact your congresscritters and ask that the law that provides public funding to "civil rights" for the purpose of suing the government be repealed. I forgot the name of the particular law but I will look it up tonight and tell you what it is. There is already a grassroots movement to repeal it, or at least prevent the groups from suing to supress public religious displays and such.
Not to get too far off-topic, but the grave markers in Arlington, while some have crosses on them, are not crosses themselves:

Truly an awe-inspiring place. Every American should go there.
If we could find a good lawyer I would be willing to make a contribution.
