"'Squeaky' up for parole
'She'll never get out,' ex-DA sez of Fromme"
By JANET McLAREN
DAILY NEWS WRITER
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "WASHINGTON - The infamous "lady in red" who tried to assassinate President Gerald Ford in 1975 faces her first and last parole hearing next month after serving 30 years of a life sentence in federal prison.
Even if she is granted parole, Lynette (Squeaky) Fromme - once a devoted member of mass murderer Charles Manson's "Family" - will still have to serve an additional 13 months because of a 1988 prison escape. If she's turned down, she will die in prison.
Fromme, now 56, has rejected parole hearings since she first became eligible in 1985. But by law a hearing is now mandatory - and she must be freed if a parole board finds she is not likely to commit another crime and has not seriously violated prison rules.
Tom Hutchinson, chief of staff for the U.S. Parole Commission, said his office will begin proceedings next month and announce the results in early September."

June 25, 2005
BY CHRISTY ARBOSCELLO
FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Two men charged with killing a Wayne State University graduate student were convicted of second-degree murder Friday in Macomb County Circuit Court.
The jury declined to convict Bashar Farraj, 28, of Detroit and Samer Fawaz, 30, of Dearborn of the more serious charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Police and Macomb County prosecutors said they believe the men killed Raed Al-Farah, 27, of Madison Heights. Al-Farah, a native of Jordan who was in the United States on a student visa, was studying for his second master's degree in business before he disappeared nearly two years ago. His body was never found."

Chart: Al-Qa`ida's WMD Activities
By Weapons of Mass Destruction Terrorism Research Program (WMDTRP)*
Updated: May 13, 2005
The following table provides a comprehensive listing of reports concerning al-Qa`ida's involvement with chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear weapons between 1997 and 2004. The information about al-Qa`ida's WMD activities derives from a wide array of sources whose reliability is quite variable. Among those sources are the public pronouncements of al-Qa`ida leaders, the testimony of imprisoned al-Qa`ida members, statements by public officials from numerous governments, leaks from unnamed intelligence sources, claims made by more or less dubious individuals, uncorroborated and often biased journalistic accounts, and - most reliably - captured al-Qa`ida documents (including videotapes) or tangible physical evidence in the form of abandoned al-Qa`ida safe houses and laboratory facilities. The difficulties inherent in properly evaluating these diverse sources are partially acknowledged in the table itself, since we have tried to identify uncorroborated incidents by labeling them as "alleged", "reported", "purported", etc. For additional information regarding these matters, please feel free to contact the authors.

"How the Left gets loonier, Editor decries calling terrorists mean names."

"How the Left gets loonier"
24jun05
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "FIRST they backed Saddam against his victims. Now our cultural elite backs terrorists against Douglas Wood, the Australian they kidnapped.
You say I exaggerate? I reply: Andrew Jaspan.
Jaspan is editor-in-chief of The Age, Australia's most Left-wing daily newspaper, and on ABC radio on Wednesday said how "boorish" and "coarse" Wood was at his press conference this week when he called his captors "a---holes".
You might wonder whether Jaspan, the Englishman whose paper on that same day published a big picture on page one of naked girls from Big Brother, has the right to call anyone else "coarse".
But far more shocking was his apparent demand that Wood be more grateful to the men who'd snatched him, kicked him in the head, kept him blindfolded and bound for 47 days, shaved him bald, killed two of his colleagues, made him beg for his life, and -- says a fellow hostage from Sweden -- shot several other prisoners in front of him."
Ditto here. We gift them with the education they need to use against us. Of course the headline could never be 2,500 American students gifted with scholarships....it would be so wrong of our universities and scholarship donors to consider America's youth for these scholarship awards (extreme sarcasm).
It would be a lot more fitting if the universities and donors gave these scholarships to members of our military returning from active duty in the Middle East. THAT would be exemplary, but, of course, not to be expected from the liberals who would rather benefit the already rich Saudis.

"Radiation Detection at Major Seaports by Year's End"
by Jim Kouri, CPP
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The FY 2005 Port Security Grant Program uses a risk-based formula to allocate funds to protect our ports from acts of terrorism. The program fortifies security at our nations ports by providing funding to increase protection against potential threats from small craft, underwater attacks and vehicle borne improvised explosives, and to enhance explosive detection capabilities aboard vehicle ferries and associated facilities.
The new risk-based formula considers three elements: threat, vulnerability, and consequence. As part of this risk-management approach, the port security grant program will ensure federally regulated ports, terminals, and US inspected passenger vessels receiving the funds represent assets of the highest national strategic importance. Sixty-six port areas have been identified as eligible applicants for inclusion in the FY 2005 program. Successful applicants will be awarded through a competitive process.
