The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat
Threat Matrix: U.S. Terrorism
Expert: Al-Qaida Has Presence In South Florida
Full Story

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Despite the massive federal, state and local law enforcement effort to stop terrorists from entering the United States, there is no strong evidence of how well it is working.

Many experts are concerned that there are plenty of terrorists or sympathizers already in the country who have been here for years. Some are even citizens.

The Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers were the first wave and now the increasing number of arrests seems to signal a second wave of terrorism in South Florida.

The alleged terrorist suspect Hamid Hyatt is the grand son of Qari Saeed ur rehman head of a Madrasa in Rawalpindi
That's interesting.

More on the Lodi arrests: http://www.insidebayarea.com/sanmateocountytimes/localnews/ci_2792344
"...Hayat was first interviewed by the FBI on May 29 in Japan, when he was trying to return from Pakistan. His name was flagged on a federal "no-fly list," and Korean Airlines Flight 23 from Seoul to San Francisco International Airport was diverted to Tokyo, after about five hours over the Pacific Ocean."

Why was he in South Korea? Doesn't it cost twice as much to fly from Pakistan (east to west) compared to going thru London?

"...There are 49 California hospitals and no large food stores on a 2003 state list of terrorist targets obtained by the Oakland Tribune, The Times' sister paper.

"We do not have information that these or any other sectors in the United States have been primarily targeted or are specifically vulnerable to an attack," FBI Special Agent in Charge Keith Slotter said."

"...Hamid Hayat, a worker at fruit-packing plant"

What kind of fruit? Does "Fruit-Packing Plant" = "Large Food Store" in Urdu?

"Islam on march

Mexico agrees to monitor foreign groups as Muslim recruitment rate skyrockets"

WASHINGTON –

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The recruitment of new followers is especially active in southern Mexico and among the indigenous Mayans who are converting by the hundreds, according to a report in Der Spiegel. The Mexican government, the report says, is concerned about a culture clash in its own back yard.

About 300 Tzozil-Indians have converted to Islam in recent years and it's a development that is beginning to worry the Mexican government, said the Der Spiegel report. The government even suspects the new converts of subversive activity and has already set the secret service onto the track of the Mayan Muslims. Mexican President Vincente Fox has even gone so far as to say he fears the influence of the radical fundamentalists of al-Qaida.

Indeed, with Islamic "charities" under increasing international pressure and scrutiny to cut ties with terrorists, al-Qaida and other allied organizations are expanding operations throughout Latin America, establishing both legitimate and criminal enterprises to fund future operations.

According to U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela Charles Shapiro, almost every extremist terror group is now represented in Latin America."

unfortunately, the Homeland Security folks have had so many reports to read, scenarios to consider, threats to plan against, and BORING meetings to attend that there is a loss of attention to the importance of the task....

These are the same things that prevented our alphabet agencies from stopping 9/11 before it happened. Bureuracracy is in itself evil. Threats against our country are even more evil and deserve top priority over people sitting in a room listening to a recap of things they already know. I say give them a printout of the items covered and let them loose to do their jobs. I always found the only anticipation I had for those meetings was what was on the lunch menu (am I bad?)

Low tech and primitive are their areas of expertise.

That's the stereotype. Do you have any idea how many of the wogs who also have a penchant for using suicide bombs to take out large number of folks are also college grads? You'd be astounded. Do not ever underestimate this enemy as being blind ignorant illiterate religious zealots. They may be religious zealots but they ain't ignorant! In fact, IMHO, the most deadly of the Jihadis are those we educated at the Ivy League schools and that is a whole bunch! It took a lot of planning (planning takes brains and organization) to put together all of the AQ attacks besides 911.

You're 10 steps ahead of the alphabets. They recently said they had no proof of sleeper cells in our country.... Did TMers have any doubt? But then again they are still in the wavelength that ME types are not to be profiled. Israel has its act together on this front. Letting CAIR and the ACLU dictate national security is just plain wrong and even downright dangerous.

Fears of terrorism hit close to home
http://www.recordnet.com/articlelink/060905/news/articles/060905-gn-1.php

Stockton-based FBI agents followed up by first interviewing him Friday and again Saturday, when he allegedly confessed he had been taught paramilitary techniques to kill Americans and had asked to return to the United States to carry out his mission.

Lodi Mayor John Beckman said he is "outraged" that someone born in the United States allegedly received training from al-Qaida to attack Americans and that he fears there are potential terrorists in other small towns and cities across the country.

"What's unfortunate is the vast majority of Americans are more interested in the Michael Jackson trial," he said.

Assemblyman Hector De La Torre, D-Los Angeles, said he wouldn't be surprised if terrorists lived in California.

"You have a target-rich environment here," he said, pointing to the state's large cities, attractions such as Disneyland and a movie-star governor.

but they ain't ignorant!

Darned right they're not ignorant. They are teaching subversiveness to anyone who will listen at our own country's colleges.

SNIP: Middle Eastern immigrants are one of the most educated immigrant groups in America. In 2000, 49 percent had at least a bachelor's degree, compared to 28 percent of natives.

...........when the public wakes up there will be fighting in the streets...........

Since it's California watch for the first reactions to be screaming for more GUN CONTROL so they can feel safer while the cops go about their jobs to combat the forces of evil....and oh yeah.....let's take away the rest of the guns in the country while we're at it so we can REALLY be safe! I hate to say it, but I think it'll take a nuke on Berkely to start (I said START) a change in attitude in California.

Here is a Cuban link looking for al-queera link. Condfindent Little snot isn't he...

Moratinos boasts of "advances" in relations with Castro
Foreign minister Miguel Ángel Moratinos said yesterday that there are "positive facts" in Cuba, such as the meeting held by Cuban dissidents on May 20 and the freeing of some prisoners. Moratinos's statements come in the wake of the expulsion of several European politicians and journalists from Cuba. Moratinos said that therefore the Spanish administration wants to continue along the "line of dialogue" with Havana, and called for "objectivity in evaluating the advances caused by the EU policy toward Cuba, promoted by Spain." "We must be objective in our evaluations," said Moratinos, when asked about the effects of the recent attempts by Fidel Castro to influence the EU's decision on whether to continue the suspension of diplomatic relations with Cuba past June. "Try to see where we were with the measures before the beginning of this Spanish administration and the lack of dialogue with Cuba and then see where we are now. There have been liberations from prison, meetings with the dissidents, the dissidents meet with the (foreign) mission chiefs and with diplomatic representatives, there is a congress of dissidents which has never before been held, these are facts," said Moratinos. "That's not enough? Well, we would like to go faster, but before we had these dissidents in jail and without the ability to call meetings. We're going to keep working and providing facts, and trying to be objective," he said. Asked about the expulsion of European journalists and political leaders, Moratinos said, "I don't know how many parliamentarians were expelled, I don't know whether it was four and five other journalists, while there were 150 dissidents who went to the meeting." He then called the expulsions "unacceptable." Moratinos is to receive the Czech foreign minister today in Madrid and will bring up this question, as the Czech republic is one of the firmest opponents of the policy of detente with Cuba. "We don't have to convince anyone, simply point out what the advances and our goals are. I think we have to be objective," he said.
