What Everybody's Missing About Deep Throat (He Would Have Buried Watergate)
Self | June 2, 2005 | JohnRobertson

Posted on 06/02/2005 8:21:22 PM PDT by John Robertson

While many MSM'ers (sorry, most) are lionizing this guy as "a hero," someone who "did what he had to do," something big is being missed.

Our side has pointed out that he authorized/engineered illegal breakins himself...

And that he turned on the Whitehouse because he didn't get the top FBI job. Now think about that....

Felt became a snitch because he didn't get something he wanted! He was an opportunist, plain and simple (and it runs in the family, apparently, as they shamelessly say they urged the old man to do it so they could all get some money). Yeah, a real hero.

But here's what I haven't seen....

If they had made him the head of the FBI, he WOULD NOT have turned on the Whitehouse.

In fact, as head of the FBI....

HE WOULD HAVE HELPED THEM BURY WATERGATE!

Digging deeper .

I finally got around to watching the movie about W & B

In the begining, it there were references to Hunt checking out information at the library about Ted Kennedy

The movies doesn't explain further on that and why

I am not sure Woodward was on the Kerry campaign beat. He is an executive editor now. I wish he had been. By the way, I think the Washington Post is a fine newspaper, not as fine as the Wall Street Journal, but better than most.

I seem to remember how Woodward, the Post and almost every other member of the MSM were totally outraged over Charles Colson having just one FBI file. That same group seemed to completely ignore it when the Clintons had over 900 files. I have absolutely no respect for anyone associated with that paper.

Have you been taking lessons from Dan Rather?

I was unaware that the charges were specifically the wiretapping - I thought they were broader.

But, considering the fact that the documents themselves are SO heavily redacted, I wuld highly doubt that any significant recordings/transcripts thereof would be available.

He lacked that esesntial loadstar of valuing doing what was right over and above perceived self interest, however poorly perceived that self interest was.

If that was the case, why did he not pursue the 1960 election fraud or choose to not resign and stay and fight like the Clintoon did?

A liberal tried to say the new Darth Vader was GW.

I told him that the new Darth Vader, Kerry was defeated in Nov.. The evil Senator P/Kennedy, who coached Kerry since the 1960's lost this battle.

He started to argue, and I asked him if he wanted pictures of Kennedy programming Kerry in Nam and after Kerry returned from Nam.

Thanks for the quiz, you might want to post a thread on the Kennedy involvement in Deep Throat, Nam and the other areas you posted.

Here is a link that tells of the Smathers/Kennedy relationship.

How do you know that? And if such an opportunist, why didn't he coume out years ago and cash in? He could have made millions.

Tremendous thread. Excellent research, kcvl.

A thought or two after reading this thread this morning.

Bob Woodward is a soldier. He isn't and wasn't a pawn. I read his ridiculous story yesterday. That was one of the most thinly written stories I've ever seen.

Woodward was a soldier for the "we hate Nixon" group at the Pentagon. Reading the history on Ben Bradlee and Ketherine Graham's husband, it is pretty clear that Woodward was brought on board at the post as an intelligence officer for use against Nixon.

Bernstein was cover for the operation. He had a little bit more seasoning as a reporter and a family background that would cause any detractors to have second thoughts about accusing Woodward to be a hit man for the Pentagon brass.

Think about Woodward as a willing soldier instead of a pawn. I'm willing to entertain the option that he was a CIA operative.

If you guys have access to Lexis-Nexis and research Woodward's writing, look at them through the prism of him as a soldier. It might make for some enlightening reading.

Thanks for your hard work.

Think of a novel where Watergate was a blip, then went away.

Three million people in Southeast Asia wouldn't have been butchered and some of us would probably be driving Vietnamese cars like we drive Korean cars.

Yes. Every now and then a situation develops which validates what conservatives and republicans (have always known) have been saying about the liberal press.

You're very kind.

Perhaps a thread with this title might engender even more response:

"Hillary's Gay Pit Bull Is Descended from Kennel Run By Saul Alinsky and Carl Bernstein's Father; Gun Hater Woodward Had Hidden Agenda; Johnny Chung's Puppetmaster Pulled Strings from Moscow"....

Remember, to really froth everybody up, you need Hillary, Pit Bulls and guns...

Have a great day.

And something else, I should credit other Freepers for the "moderation" of this--expatpat, and especially Howlin.

Which two future presidential contenders spoke in support of the VVAW on 9.7.70? Kerry, must be. Goodness, Hillary?

If it's Hillary, I smell a Swiftboat-type assault on her.

John, BOL!

If you run that thread you would need a posse of newly sworn in Moderators to remove the trolls and moles who go ballistic.

You're right. Nixon, deeply flawed. But walking away from the 1960 election, after a contentious campaign (contentious for then), showed more class, and more willingness to do good for the country, than all the current dems put together.

Howlin, Expat, Mo1, MJY1288, kcvl and others did a great job contributing to your thread last night.

"Felt became a snitch because he didn't get something he wanted! He was an opportunist, plain and simple."

How do you know that? you ask.

Goodness, it's obvious, implicit, self-evident. And has been clearly stated by several sources, including the tapes and Felt himself. If he'd gotten the job, he wouldn't have snitched.

"And if such an opportunist, why didn't he coume out years ago and cash in? He could have made millions."

Maybe he had to wait for a sufficient number of key players to die. Maybe he had a SHRED of self-respect, and, in shame, kept his mouth shut. Remember, his family, bred in the bone in his ethics DNA, are pushing this hard, to cash in. They have said that: We're doing it for the money.

Thanks for this thread. All the great minds are gathered here in one place. I think this will be one of the threads that we will be talking about for years.
