President Bush wanted to appoint Christopher Cox to a federal court judgeship, but Democrat Senators of California (Boxer and Feinstein) opted to veto the appointment under an old Senate privilege that a judge can't be appointed if the Senators from his/her state don't concur.

That's exactly what's happening with Judge Saad too- both Michigan Senators, Carl "The Pengiun" Levin and Debbie Stab-a-cow, are against Saad for their own selfish reasons.

My husband and evidentally Bush, too, think highly of Cox's intelligence and knowledge and thought he would have been a fabulous judge.

"Sen-a-dor" LOL Oh yeah, I can no longer listen to Bob Woodward and keep a straight face either. Mr. Fudd Fan must not have our razor-sharp sense of humor.
Does he like Monty Python, by any chance? I divide the world into two types of people, those who like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and those who don't. It keeps things simple.

C-span today showed Condi at the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco speech from May 27, and I love her new hair do.
And, oh, do I love her clothes!
She said that when she was young that while her minister father was writing and practicing his sermon on Saturday for the Sunday service, that she and her Mom would go shopping. And so she loves shopping.

Maybe it's time for certain Senate traditions to get flushed down the crapper. Either that or flush the Senators down the crapper.

Wow...great pictures from what I saw. I had to stop the upload process because it was taking sooo long! Some of us are still in the dark ages with dial-up. :o)
You do a great job, snugs. Thank you.

I had a freep mail from GretchenM this afternoon she is not feeling at all well today I am certain she would welcome your prayers.
I am not certain if she has had a recurrence of her sinus problems or other issues she did not expand upon this in her mail but whatever I am certain she would welcome prayers, I have not seen her post this evening so I would assume she still feels pretty rough.

Do you think Cox is going to have problems in getting confirmed? I'm afraid I don't even know if he has to be confirmed, I suppose he does. I can't even guess if they would balk at that. If so, the Senate DemoRats are shooting their bullets at the small targets once again, I would think. But they can stall and obfuscate and drag things on forever and the moveon people just cheer them on.
However, this could be the financial community they would be going against too, not just the little people like us, and that might put a different light on it.
I thought I was mad about this before, but now I am really, really getting angry.
