" B-R-R-R-R, These Iraqi summers remind me of winters in the outback-shoulda brung me longjons."
"Strewth, after sitting around a bush telly for three soddin' weeks staring at jumbucks, it's bonzer to be back! Right now, I'd crack a fat for a stubby, a jilleroo, and a franger. You got a middie for me? Good onya, mate!"
I worked with the Aussies in Nam and between the Aussies and the ROKS from Korea, a Marine could not have a better friend. They sure had pretty nurses too. LOL
And the R&R in Sydney was the BEST!

"G'day Aladdin. Didja know we Aussies have as many expressions for vomiting as Eskimos do for snow? 'technicolor yawn, chuffing, driving the porcelain bus, talking to the toilet, hurling, tossing one's cookies, ralphing, projectile exclamations' well, you get the point. Now point me to a billabong, mate."
No caption, just prayers for their safety. One other thing, Random, I would put Australia shoulder to shoulder with the Brits. And like the Brits the Aussies have always been there for us. They are both allies that would make any nation proud to have. :>)
I'll take Victoria Bitter anyday :) It's a nice Lager.
Another wicked one is Tooheys, see its commercial here:
Keep talking Mohamed while we give you some "down under thunder"!
I served in Korea with a bunch of ANZAC's and later was in POW camp with some...don't knock these guys as they are some of the best fighters and "Mates" in the world. They are not like the Brits or Canadians, they will stick with you.
"they are some of the best fighters and 'Mates' in the world."
And cute as hell too!
Hey mate, whaddaya say we toss a couple of Al Qaedas on the barbie and wash the scene down with a couple of Fosters.
Got any Vegimite to go with this mate?
XXXX
Cheers.
Is that a didgeridoo in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
And those ROKs are some tough SOB's aren't they? I had a buddy that ended up in the same in-country hospital ward as a group of them when he served a tour over there. He said they wanted to fight so badly that they would beat the crap out of each other just to stay toughened up for when they got out of the hospital.
I questioned how much he had enhanced his story - until the first time I worked with some of them. The ones I dealt with reminded me of an Asian version of the Tasmanian Devil from the Warner Bros. cartoons. Tough as HE77 and would obliterate just about anything that stood in their way...
Regards,
Raven6
I could tell you some stories about the ROK Marines in Nam that you would not believe. LOL
Semper Fi,
Kelly
LOL, crikey, that was perfect!
"Waltzing Matilda..."
I bet them wide brim hats are a life saver in the desert sun.
I'll take the one on the left with the watchful look in his eyes...but, shhhhh, don't tell me 'usband.
