Tens of thousands of 'trucker bombs' litter roads ---
SEATTLE Roadside litter comes in all shapes and sizes from dirty diapers to syringes but there's one category that out-grosses the rest: trucker bombs.
Most drivers whiz along the nation's highways largely oblivious to their roadside surroundings. But next time you are out there, take a closer look.
"As soon as you look for it youll see it," says Megan Warfield, litter programs coordinator at Washington state's Department of Ecology. "You just see them glistening in the sun. Its just gross."
They are trucker bombs, plastic jugs full of urine tossed by truckers, and even non-truckers, who refuse to make a proper potty stop to relieve themselves.
The state hasn't counted how many such jugs are found each year, but a single, small county decided to do its own tally. "In one year," Warfield says, "one crew found 2,666 bottles of urine, 67 feces covered items, not including diapers, and 18 syringes."
It even happens at rest stops. "Thats the mystery," Warfield says. "Theres a bathroom right there, theres also a trash can."
Handling the goods Disposing of trucker bombs, aka torpedoes or pee bottles, is a thankless task that in many cases falls to highway cleanup crews.

Wow, what a nice below the radar sinecure, a bureaucrats dream job if ever there was one. They probably had to search for her for a week just to get that quote.
...and I never heard of a state employee earning minimum wage. I'll be that rest area supervisor could buy and sell you.
...They are trucker bombs, plastic jugs full of urine tossed by truckers, and even non-truckers, who refuse to make a proper potty stop to relieve themselves....O.K....sounds like a good job for all those guys lifting weights in prison....a little roadside litter detail for prisoners....
Remember the Dave Matthews Band " bombed" a boat when it emptied its crapper tank while crossing a bridge .
I would much rather see a few "butts" then pee anyday out there on the HWY! And that's a fact!
At least when someone steps on a "butt" they don't get it all over the sole of their shoe. ewwwwwwwwwww!
There were no public employees unions back then. The unions have since driven wages sky high. There's no way a guy in charge of the rest areas makes minimum wage, in fact he probably lives better than most folks with "real" jobs.
What in the HELL is an Acadian Beaumont?????
Never mind.....found it on a search. The name beaver fever should have clued me in....LOL
L.O.L.....The "Dave Matthews Bomb" was probably a little bigger and picked up a lot more speed on the way down.....
I love this country and it sickens me to see it being treated like this.
If you're turned off by the sight of pee bottles, then don't get yourself deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan! Bottled water is free to everyone, and at night (for us guys anyway) filling an empty bottle beats leaving your tent for a long walk to the port-a-john. Next morning, toss it in the trash can.
Some people's problem could be another persons "gold mine". At many locations in San Francisco's bay area, these jugs full of waste would be a treat. Drop them all off there.
I see....And how does this relate to tossed pee bottles??

I do a lot of driving on 95 and havent noticed this pee bomb jugs on the highway, Maybe its a Western thing.
I do wnder about a jug thrown from a truck moving at 75 mph being able to sustain a hit like that, It appears to me it would break open. Another thing if I were using a jug like that I would need a larger opening in the top.

Braggin', braggin', braggin'!!!!
;-)!
Got it...thank you.....
Maybe they slow down and gently toss it........
Hey I don't know about the rest of you, but I would never throw the whole jug out on the road. I stop and dump it.
I have heard the proper technique involves a gallon jug afixed front and center to the driver seat on the floor and a funnel with a flexible neck (surgical tubing) and proper "contact" seal with the funnel opening to make a deposit. My brother in law runs a small fleet. He does the maintenance on the trucks on the weekends and hates emptying the "thunder jugs" as they call them. They don't discard them on the road, they get dumped down a toilet in the shop.
