KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- The city of Knoxville used tax dollars to pay for lap dances at local strip clubs. It was part of an effort to force adult businesses to adhere to stricter regulations and the city says, in essence, it was money well spent.

The city paid a private investigator nearly $100 an hour to go to adult businesses. Then the city paid for the investigator to get lap dances while he was there.

On April 23rd, private investigator Greg Lundy went to the Mouse's Ear and paid a topless dancer $40 for a lap dance. He tipped her $3.00. The same night, Lundy also went to Th' Katch and paid for another lap dance.

That night, Lundy spent $135 of taxpayers' money on lap dances, beer and cover charges.

But isn't one of the measures of proper taxation is, "If I had kept this money, would I have spent it on this?" If so, I suspect that many people would go along with this....

Ok, I've looked all through the article and I don't see any place to fill out an application for his job. What gives?

It would be funny if they gave this job to a gay dude. "Man, I hate my job!"

$100/hr. to have a pretty girl dance nude for me? Weeeellllllll OK. But I'm doing it under protest! And I'll not work more than 70 hours per week! Period!

This was clearly an "undercover" investigation. (Aw com'on now, I know it was a "groaner", but it was a good line!)

But can you see the guy telling his wife he's leaving for work and won't be back 'til 3:00 AM??!!!

I note they reported the $267 spent in the bars, but not how much the shamus was paid.

If they raise it to more then $100/hr I won't be able to afford to work for them.

"It would be funny if they gave this job to a gay dude."

They tried that, but instead of sitting down, drinking beer, and getting lap dances like he was being paid to do, he hung out near the bouncer all night and complained how awful the drapes looked.

Happens everyday in police work,it's called the vice squad.

My brother had business cards printed, when he worked the strip clubs in vice, with a picture of a pole dancer and the quote,It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

Vice cops for TPD do this all the time making sure the strippers don't cross various lines. The girls can always spot the cops because they're big tippers whom they've never seen before (big tippers usually build to it as they become regulars).
