Do you have World War I Memorials through-out the country not necessarily a national one but one in each state or large town?
We have quite a few all over Britain commorating the local people who died in World War I here is one from Torquay

What is considered our national one is of course the Cenotaph in London

Yes we do have small monuments in some of the cities and towns, but there should still be a national monument just like the ones from WWII and other wars.

Most towns/cities have at least one & often more monuments to the fallen from WW1. Guess since we have a major DC memorial, encompassing acres, to every other war, it seems fitting to have one for this one also.
Re: mom.. still on floor, on mattress. We are making things go as well as possible . She has a lot of pain, but based on what she can/cannot do, I am certain there is not a break. I strongly suggested & she did not fight, just staying put for many more days & I re- did the TV , her "stuff" etc so that she can enjoy the new vantage.
Now if it sounds harsh for her to be on floor.. she is on an wonderful ( and expensive air mattress.. that I had in Houston)... I have been sleeping on floor w/o mattress for 3 years now. My back is so much better. I have a very good mattress on my bed but the floor is better for me. I just have a quilt doubled over between me & the carpet.
I recall my several weeks in Japan , years ago NOT being able to sleep on the rolled mats on the floor that they provided at the tea houses where we stayed. It does take getting used to.
I have strongly cut down her food intake (I told her we are both on diets) and she cannot get to the food stuffs/frig etc in her room.
Thanks for asking. How are your folks? How often do you & dad go to visit her?
