Tales of abuse in Guantanamo testimony Tribunal transcripts offer glimpse into prison
MSNBC ^ | May 31, 2005 | AP

One Guantanamo prisoner told a military panel that American troops beat him so badly he wets his pants now. Another detainee claimed U.S. troops stripped prisoners in Afghanistan and intimidated them with dogs so they would admit to militant activity.

Tales of alleged abuse and forced confessions are among some 1,000 pages of tribunal transcripts the U.S. government released to The Associated Press under a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit — the second batch of documents the AP has received in 10 days.

The testimonies offer a glimpse into the secretive world of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where about 520 men from 40 countries remain held, accused of having links to Afghanistan’s ousted Taliban regime or Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida network. Many have been held for three years.

Whether the stories are true may never be known. And it wasn’t immediately clear how many abuse allegations had been logged from the tribunals or how many of them had been investigated. Dozens of complaints have surfaced from detention missions in Afghanistan, Iraq and Guantanamo, but the government couldn’t offer a breakdown Monday.

One detainee, whose name and nationality were blacked out like most others in the transcripts, said his medical problems from alleged abuse have not been taken seriously.

The MSM favorite prison changed from Abu Grabag to GITMP.

Of course everything that comes out of the detainees mouths is the gospel truth. It is strictly against the teachings of Islam to tell a lie except to infidels.

"Whether the stories are true may never be known."

What is known is that the a-Q handbook counsels captives to lie like dogs on rugs about abuse and torture. The presstitutes seem to omit that fact with disgusting frequency....

SHOCKING...actually, I was shocked to find out that nearly everybody in any prison is actually innocent...just ask them.

While the allegations are serious, so far the only sources for them are people with an axe to grind. The real test of would be whether any of the military personnel back it up; all it takes is one or two soldiers with a conscience to bring it into the open and Abu Ghraib is proof that the military is full of people who would come forward to report abuse.

Evidently MSNBC didn't get the manuals which were translated into English - proving the terrorists WERE TRAINED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING ABUSED AND TORTURED.

So .. I don't believe their junk. Only people as stupid as MSNBC would believe it.

Doesn't the al Quaeda operations manual specifically instruct prisoners to claim abuse even where none occurred?

And the MSM laps it up.

Being against the war - thinking it is the wrong idea - and wanting to be an investigative reporter and "ferret out government abuse" etc. is one thing. Thinking the war is not going well is one thing.

But HOPING it goes badly, and doing everything possible to slant the coverage AGAINST the US (especially in a war where the enemy's ONLY hope is a victory through propaganda, and hurting US morale) is indeed something else entirely. Crossing a line? I can't even see the line in the rear view mirror, we're so far from it.

I asked someone alive during WWII if the press would have ever run something like the "Koran toilet" story, true or not, back then. "Never" was the quick and emphatic reply.

There are people who HATE our country as presently constituted. And not all of them are in Iraq.

Yes. Yes it does.

A tactic adopted by the DNC during the elections.

i'm sure they are told to lie but i've seen photos of the below statement:

"Another detainee claimed U.S. troops stripped prisoners in Afghanistan and intimidated them with dogs so they would admit to militant activity"

is this really new information?

The MSM is enraged that Newsweak was caught lying, so they're determined to repeat over and over every lie Al Qaeda ever told anyone about Gitmo.

The MSM are such anti-American scum.

I think that about sums it up. And they will NOT mention it is official al Quaeda policy to make false claims about prisoner abuse.

What? No Beheadings?

AP reports a confidential informant/terrorist confided that he had been beheaded several times at Guantanamo.

I was told that the terrorist prisoners are sold to 'managers', taught tap dancing and then forced to perform in 'tap battles' against other prisoner tap troupes for trophies while the guards make big $$$ bets on which troupe will win out.

FWIW - This is all coming from a released terrorist who couldn't do a buck and wing even when I put a gun to his head.

"One Guantanamo prisoner told a military panel that..."

Oh my, and we must hang on every word he says, because he is a Muslim Extremist Terrorist who would NEVER, I SAY, NEVER tell a fabrication to the American liberal press, who never question what THEY say, BUT will question EVERYTHING the U.S. Military says. HOW TYPICAL. When you see that reports come from MSNBC, CNN, HNN, CNBC, ABC, NBC, C-BS, P-BS, CBC, AP, REUTERS, BBC, and others like their ilk, take story for what it is: a fairytale that may have elements of truth in it, Just like what Satan said to Eve in the Garden of Eden.
