SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- They fed them well. The Pakistani tribesmen slaughtered a sheep in honor of their guests, Arabs and Chinese Muslims famished from fleeing U.S. bombing in the Afghan mountains. But their hosts had ulterior motives: to sell them to the Americans, said the men who are now prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.
Bounties ranged from $3,000 to $25,000, the detainees testified during military tribunals, according to transcripts the U.S. government gave The Associated Press to comply with a Freedom of Information lawsuit.
A former CIA intelligence officer who helped lead the search for Osama bin Laden told AP the accounts sounded legitimate because U.S. allies regularly got money to help catch Taliban and al-Qaida fighters. Gary Schroen said he took a suitcase of $3 million in cash into Afghanistan himself to help supply and win over warlords to fight for U.S. Special Forces.

So, now we know that rewards work. Raise the ante on Bin Laden, et al.

Hogwash. . .the criminal pig-swine scat that ended up at Gitmo are guilty as they come. We simply do not pick up just anyone and transport to Gitmo. Silly article.

So if we execute them, we'll have to write off their worth at that moment.

The AP has become a tabloid wannabe. Pretty soon they'll be doing alien abduction and monkey boy stories.

Which would be worse: your hosts sell you out for $3,000 or knowing that the US government only values you at about one sixteen thousandth of Osama bin Laden?

If the allegations are true then the US military should act to protect their investment and the integrity of the bounty system. My solution: If the recipient of the payment knowingly handed over an innocent person, send HIM to Gitmo.

Why write them off when we could sell them to cannibals.
We could cut our costs or perhaps make a nice profit depending on the market.

"Pretty soon they'll be doing alien abduction and monkey boy stories."
Only if there is an anti-Bush angle to it:
"Bush space exploration cuts cause alien abductions"
and
"Bush Dept of Education failing the self-esteem of monkey boys"
etc.

Rush was saying today that the latest Al-quati play book tells them to report abuse, cry abuse, tell judges they were abused, their religion abused, etc. Rush was saying this is what they are told to do to make it look bad because the press eats this crap with a shovel.
