Kerry: I Have Reread New Testament
NewsMax | 5/31/05

Former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, who lost this crucial swing state in November, sounded Friday as if he were still stumping for Florida's votes.

The Massachusetts senator, at a National Head Start Association conference to tout his plan to provide health care for uninsured children, hammered on familiar themes of values and unity while repeatedly criticizing the Bush administration and Republican leaders in Congress.

"I went back and reread the whole New Testament the other day. Nowhere in the three-year ministry of Jesus Christ did I find a suggestion at all, ever, anywhere, in any way whatsover, that you ought to take the money from the poor, the opportunities from the poor and give them to the rich people," Kerry said.

Kerry has yet to officially announce whether he's in the running for the 2008 nomination, and he didn't take questions from the media Friday.

But while speaking to the educators and child advocates gathered in a hotel ballroom, it wasn't difficult to imagine his rhetoric, unchanged, being said at a campaign rally.

"We need to enlist and join together in a great cause across the country that puts a simple choice before our fellow Americans. It's a choice that, I think, is based on values," Kerry said.

Following Florida's 2000 election debacle, in which Bush emerged the barest of winners over Al Gore after five weeks of partisan fighting, the Democratic Party made capturing the state one of its highest priorities.

But Kerry couldn't pull the state into his column, despite the millions spent on advertising and get-out-the-vote efforts. Bush prevailed by almost 381,000 ballots, for a margin of five percentage points.

"The fact is, 10 million more Americans voted for our idea of what we wanted to do than voted for Bill Clinton in 1996 when he was the sitting president of the United States," Kerry said. "The fact is, a million people volunteered. The fact is, across America we created an energy.

"And that energy is going to keep on going and keep on fighting until we achieve what we want to."

If Kerry decides to run, possible competition for the party's nomination include his former running mate, ex-N.C. Sen. John Edwards; N.Y. Sen. Hillary Clinton, and retired general Wesley Clark.

Nor did Jesus ever say that the rich should be taxed to death, or that the government should try to redistribute wealth

In fact, he renounced the job in Luke 12:13-15

13Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me." 14Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?" 15Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

Maybe now he can read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, since it is apparent he's never read them a first time yet. Then he can move on to the US Code and read the part that deals with treason.

Well, I went back and reread the whole Republican Party platform the other day. Nowhere in the four-year Administration of George W. Bush did I find a suggestion at all, ever, anywhere, in any way whatsover, that you ought to take the money from the poor, the opportunities from the poor and give them to the rich people.

This is just part of the Democrats' new game plan, i.e. (voice of James Carville): "Dem dam religious nutters are falling fer everythin' Bush tells 'em. Let's see if we caint get us some o' dat dere action." ;)

Nowhere did it say to set up straw man arguments, either.

The liberals PREFER the government because the money is completely free of conditions or strings. A crack whore can remain a crack whore and still get her welfare check. A drunk can remain a drunk and still get his "disability check" fromt he government.

Liberals feel guilty when they see a drug addict prostitute on the street and want to help. The problem is they don't want to use THEIR money because they KNOW that the chances are it will be wasted on drugs but that doesen't make them feel less guilty, they simply give away OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY to salve their guilty conscience.

So, he read the New Testament (in one day) just as a political ploy. How Christian of him.

Let's stretch our imaginations and take Kerry at his word. If you read the whole NT in a day, you did it for the sole purpose of saying "I read the whole NT in a day!" Unless you are Evelyn Wood, there's little chance you were able to do any serious reflection and meditation. The fact that Kerry didn't is evident in the way he uses Bible study as a device for campaigning.

For shame. This guy was almost President, mind you.

So is he going to stop taking Social Security taxes from poor young people to give to rich older people?

That's funny, because nowhere in the bible does it suggest taking money from rich people. Stealing is stealing regardless of the wealth of the victim. There is no virtue it forcing others to give. Reread your bible AGAIN Mr. Kerry.

Class-baiting without any basis in reality whatsoever. (Notice how he didn't give any example). In fact, his party is guilty of stealing from the middle class by unanimously supporting the death tax, which makes it quite difficult for small business owners to pass on their businesses to their offspring. Of course the ultra rich, like Kerry's wife, remain completely unaffected by this immoral money grab. .....which is why Soros, Gates, and Turner (among others) wholeheatedly (and near-fanatically) continue to support it.

It appears John Kerry is giving Al Gore a run for his money for the Sore Loserman title.

Hey Kerry, Ya dip-$hit, point me to the verse that says the government should take money from those that do and give it to those that dont.

I just read a commencment/gradumuashun speech by, I think, Neal Boortz that basically equated socialism to thievery.

Kerry is decrying a theft that doesn't exist and advocating an indefensible one.
