President Bush to Hold White House Press Conference at 10 a.m.
No .. that was my mistake
Charlie says it was reported in an article .. but I don't know which one
Charlie & George called Bernstein and Woodward for confirmation
They have no comment ..
Aha! There's the clue! :-) I thought they were back in session starting today. Thanks for the clarification.
LOL! I'm waiting!
Oh, brother. CNN never fails to come through with their anti-Bush spin.
Anyone have on CNN and hear President is a frustrated lameduck President,.....i thought I was on Fox,,,..but after hearing what I thought I heard...realized I was on CNN.
I do think that his presidency is taking on a "lame duck" aspect to it. What he really needs to do is seriously chase down terrorists. The fact that Osama seems to be still alive is pretty much unforgivable.
I don't disagree. But it's difficult to imagine that a SS solution couldn't be reached that doesn't penalize the 40 somethings.
I am not totally sure I heard that, but I thought I did,.... it was a reporter rather than an Anchor.

Senate's Executive Calendar <- Gory details inside
I swear Bill Frist said last week Bolton would be brought back up as soon as the Senate returned.
Mr. FRIST. Madam President, needless to say, I am very disappointed with where we sit today. We have had an interesting week, a very challenging week, starting the week on one clear direction and then sidetracked a little bit to what I thought was not an unreasonable feeling in this body that we were going to be working together and that we were going to address the important issues to America.John Bolton, the very first issue to which we turned, we got what to me looks like a filibuster. It certainly sounds like a filibuster, looking at the vote today, it quacks like a filibuster, and I am afraid, shortly after we thought we had things working together in this body again, we have another filibuster, this time on another nomination--not a judicial nomination but another nomination--the nomination of John Bolton.
It does disappoint me. We had an opportunity to finish and complete this week with a very good spirit. We are going to come back to this issue. As has been said by Senator Biden, as I have said, we are going to revisit it, but I think what America has just seen is an engagement of another period of obstruction by the other side of the aisle, and it looks like we have, once again, another filibuster.
I yield the floor.

Is this the Live thread?
Really? How about citing the federal law regarding "pyramid scams" that overrides those other federal laws mandating Social Security?
Just because you want something to be true doesn't make it so. You're guilty of subjectivism of the worst kind.
Pushing for the Senate to take action on Bolton, energy, judges
Could this be called the "PUSG" speech?
Actually it means any and every appointment GWB tries to make.
If you are 40 something and the president's plan goes through, you will have 20 years (assuming that you want to work to 65) to also put 4cents of every dollar you earn into a private account instead of the govt general revenue. That is a lot of money that congress will never have under their control. You will. You will not see a lower net income when you retire, than you would if the status quo remains the law.
CNN is a lame network. They work really hard at propaganda, but are lazy when it comes to facts.
I believe the parties have their own rules about what the majority/minority leader can do. A number of posters mentioned LBJ as an effective (if reprehensible) Senate majority leader, and I am quite sure it was not his personal charm and magnetism that kept his guys in line. I suspect Republican rules allow for less "tyranny" (which we could use a bit of!).
LOL- I like your scenario! It's not doubt exactly what happened.
That's not what president Bush himself has communicated. I'm 46 years old.... born in 1959.
