A foreign STD sets off worry in Hub May signal return of risky sex habits

A sexually transmitted disease rarely seen in recent decades in the United States has reemerged in Boston and other American cities in the past six months, fostering fears that it could herald a new wave of infections of an even more dangerous disease, AIDS.

The return of lymphogranuloma venereum, known as LGV, to North America also illustrates the increasing globalization of infectious diseases in an era of rapid air transit and frequent travel for work and pleasure, disease specialists said.

the disease is endemic to Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

''This is probably a case of biological tourism," said Dr. Daniel Cohen, a specialist in infectious diseases who has treated patients with the condition at the Fenway clinic. ''It just points out that we live in a global community and that illnesses are no longer confined by geographical boundaries."

Isn't globalism great? Not! But maybe at some point people will realize that abstention until marriage, and then monogamy, are the best ways to avoid the problem.

"This is probably a case of biological tourism,"

Well that's nice way to put it! Always morally neutered these medical elites. If it is a case of "tourism" we should tighten our borders and stop issuing visas to these bad biological diseases.

When a travel agent sells you a vacation trip called "Hedonism II" would you expect to come home with anything less than an exotic new venereal disease to share with your "closest" friends?

Consequences! We sure miss the boat when it comes to identifying the only cause of STDs: promiscuity.

If we taught and practised sex as marital bliss, not casual physical indulgement, these diseases would not exist.
Imagine that John Lennon.

Yes, the cure! Carolyn, you have identified the ultimate and only cure for this disease: don't get it. I for one am not in the least bit worried about catching it because I know where home is.

with the condition at the Fenway clinic.

This is the clinic in former homosexual city concilor David Scondras's neighborhood.

I'm suprised the homosexual editorial board at the NYT's Globe didn't have this in their "travel" or "lifestyle" section.

You are so right.I have been married now almost 15 years.
My wife and I don't ever even worry a moment about STD'S,
for the very reasons you stated.I can't imagine being in a relationship and finding I contracted something. How can other people live like that????

Normally this news wouldn't bother me. Only indecent behavior by individuals should cause them concern. Here's the rub...

I didn't become a "decent" person until my late 20's (many people would dispute even that ;-)

Now I have two wonderful kids. They are just as curious and energetic as I was at that age. Thank God they have a better nature but I'm still worried about peer pressure.

"Thank God they have a better nature but I'm still worried about peer pressure."

The myth being told the next generation by "adults" is that they have no need for self-control. This is a most obvious lie, especially in our day. A weird sexual burden is being foisted upon them by these lousy minded adults telling them they need to discover who they are sexually: straight, gay or bisexual. And how do they do that? By being promiscuous.

The best way to curb promiscuity IMHO, is healthy loving relationships at home, avoiding that alienation that drives your kids away. Girls need to know love from their daddy and sons from their mom. Kids go out searching for this love in their peers if they don't have it at home.

Link that shows this is a gay / bisexual disease, like AIDS. In other words if the homos stopped their activities, this disease would not spread. The gay girlie man globe really didn't put it in the first paragraph of their article that this is really a gay disease.

The elephant in the room is not seen by MSM or our CDC:

If you have multiple partners for deviate sex you are at high risk for STD's and are a risk the health of our society.

IF you engage in sexual acts that are KNOWN to be high risk - with multiple partners (some studies say ave number of partners for sexual active homosexuals is over 100 per year) is that practice not self destructive??

IF you live a life style of self destruction is that not Pathology

Simply the elephant in the room is: Homosexuals exhibit classic mental disease that is somehow justified as a "life style" and not as a mental disease.

Fortunately I feel we have that relationship our kids. I try to be conscientious to not alienate them by being to overbearing yet also I want maintain responsible standards and expectations at home.

So far, so good. I hope and pray that our relationship will maintain into "teenhood."

That's great to hear!
Strong loving families are the key to healthy, drug free teens. This is something the adults have to highlight and culture and it sound like you're onto it.
Keep up the good work!
It is a noble task to raise children with love in a world like this.

Of course there are heterosexuals who have deviate lifestyles. It doesnt change the fact that these outbreaks are usually found in cities known that are noted for homosexual behavior. Also mostly male homosexuality. So far Lesbians seem to be free from the worst of it , probably because they arent dipping into Doodee like the guys are.

If I went to the local mall with a gun and started shooting people... the government would do something.

But if some gay guy goes and sleeps with 50 people he meets at the mall and gives them AIDS or some other horrible disease... the government does nothing.

And usually one of those "adults telling them they need to discover who they are sexually: straight, gay or bisexual" is ever at the ready to help them embark on this voyage of discovery.
