I have no issue with what it said, just the formatting.

Formatting should not be an issue on Memorial Day. The day we say, Thank You, to those who have fought, died and suffered serious injury, to keep us free.

Beautiful Post, Cee-gar Man US Marine. And thanks for serving our country!

Here are some photos of flags.

The next are from This Event I Went to on 9-11-02

This is abner and victim of circumstance's rendition of the United States Flag in a Hot Air Balloon!

They're probably out somewhere drifting around the Blue Skies of America...

We came back from the cemetery this morning. We put a flag on my Dad's grave. I read what he wrote, and I thought of Pop, that's all. I wasn't being a smartass or anything. Just caught in the memory of Dad.

I found something else y'all might enjoy this Memorial Day, the story behind John McDermott's "Wall".

Thank you for serving our country..Your picture inspired us as we followed the developments in Iraq in our "situation room" threads and your wife's notes to FR about your wounds and road to recovery were greatly appreciated. God bless you both always.

Thank you for that.

A hearty salute to you good sir, and the service for your country.

I went to the Memorial Day observance held at one of our local parks. It was great. Some of the speakers, who tend to be liberal, continue to drive me nuts. More than one kept saying that it takes a war like Iraq to get people to remember Memorial Day. Wrong! Most of us have observed this special day all of our lives.

Thanks for the great link to the story. It was an amazing read.

God Bless!

Jay

What difference if I hail from North or South?
Or from the East or west?
My heart is filled with love for all of these...
And I only know I swell with pride,
And deep within my breast
I thrill to see Old Glory paint the breeze

This is my country- Land of my birth.
This is my country- grandest on Earth.
I pledge thee my allegiance- America the Bold
For this is my country- to have and to hold.

.

Just like when I was a Radio Man following behind Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE in Vietnam, that is me behind Lt. Gen. HAL G. MOORE (Ret.)...this time at the Vietnam Wall at the end of his EWTN TV Interview in November 2003.

Just caught the show's ending for the very first time this morning, thanks to your head's up. Hope to finally see the rest during a possible 'The World Over' re-broadcast tonight at 8:00pm Pacific Time ...everybody.

I love the whole thing. But there are times when I feel that we would be better singing the last verse more often than the first.

Agreed. I wish it were the first verse. It sums up the whole situation.

what did he say?

Here's what he posted:

As someone who is happy that out of all the foreign nations America is the strongest militarily, I can't help feeling a little uncomfortable with some of the comments on that page.

Not only does it show America's best side but also it's worst. You can be proud, strong and joyous in your nation without resorting to half-truths and contempt even for your friends.

For Example, America has not fought in every battle in every war in the last 200 years. In fact it has even went so far as to oppose France, Britain and Israel when they attempted to fight Egypt. How times have changed!

As for a flag being "worshipped" that to me sounds decidedly communist or fascist not to mention blasphemous.

Power in the hands of the free does not need to shout it's existence - it is already a beacon. Light does not tell you it is light.

Flame me if you like, but I am very strongly pro-American. However, but when you start imitating 1930's European propaganda and utopianism, then maybe as the poet Robert Burns said "oh to see ourselves as others see us" is a gift of friendship too.

I don't think he was entirely out of line, but he was clueless on a couple of points, and he certainly could've phrased it better, especially in the last paragraph.

They think we will not fight.

That being the case, it only proves them to be slow thinkers.
