?What always amazed me is how an ancient culture like Persia would not only accept a foreign religion but also become fanatic about it.

Ditto for egypt, Syria, North Africa etc.

Hi Blam, found something that supports the theory about a submerged island in South East Asia from www.wikipedia.com

Most scholars believe that the Dravidians were not indigenous to India, and migrated to India from the Northwest, although according to Tamil tradition, the Tamils came from a submerged island in the Southeast. Some scholars like Michael Witzel (in The Languages of Harappa) believe that the Dravidians intruded upon an Indo-Aryan speaking area, after the oldest part of the Rig Veda were already composed.

"...the Tamils came from a submerged island in the Southeast."

I'm the least suprised. The earliest this probably happened is 7-8,000 years ago. The last 'surge' of Ice Age melt opened up the Strait Of Mallacca(sp) which allowed them to move in that direction.

ACCORDING TO COPTS THAT I KNOW, MOST OF THE MUSLIMS OF EGYPT ARE ARAB INTERLOPERS AND THE COPTS ARE THE REAL EGYPTIANS.

don't shout. Yes, the Copts are partially correct -- but many of those Egyptian Musslimes are descendents (direct or partial) of Copts.

"The Gnostics are an interesting case study, as well as another sect of Christianity (can't think of the name right now) in Egypt."

Copts, I think you might mean.

And allow me to say that what you wrote about Zoraoster's influence on later religions is the most enlightened comment I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

Unfortunately IMO the arabic pagan religion plagiarized the Original Testament through the evil designs of mohammad and islam, the cult of death was the result.

I have saved the link you provided. Thanks.

Europe was no where near as developed as countries like Iran, India and China used to be. I think India is the only country that could preserve much of its original culture and religion.
