As the debate in Congress deadlocks over the nomination of conservative judges appointed by President Bush, a left-wing lobby group mocks the Catholic Church with a vicious ad. The ad appeared on MoveOn.Orgs web site last week, showing a doctored photo of Pope Benedict XVI in front of the U.S. Supreme Court building with outstretched arms holding a gavel in his left hand.
An offensive caption above the Popes picture reads:
God already has a job ..
He does not need one on the Supreme Court
Protect the Supreme Court Rules
MoveOn.org is playing God. They apparently want to erase God from history, eradicate the Ten Commandments from the public square, and impose a dictatorship of radical atheism. However, slamming the Catholic Church will hardly garner them more political or grassroots clout. They are out of touch with the real American landscape of dwindling blue states and booming red states.
The ad has outraged and disgusted Catholics nationwide. The Pope is the Vicar of Our Lord Jesus Christ on earth and no one has the right to poke fun at God, the Church or the Papacy. This is no light matter and the American TFP calls for a massive protest. When the Vicar of Christ is attacked, all Catholics must react.

MoveOn.org owe Catholics an apology, said TFP Student Action director John Ritchie. Even if the ad was pulled off their web site, the offense was made, and Catholics deserve an unequivocal written apology.

cute
What is their problem? Bush hasn't nominated the Pope so what's the deal? Why have they targeted the Pope? I understand they are against religion but they should say what they mean.
Sexual perversion is the only sickness where the victim derives as much pleasure from destroying people and institutions as much as from their despicable acts.
In fact that seems to be their only perceptible two activities.
Is the Supreme Court considering a rule change?
Moses with the Ten Commandments inside the Supreme Court's courtroom
...OR, mooooveon is so contemptuous of the intelligence of its target constituencies, they've deliberately confused the facts.
I don't know which is worse.
Was this the introduction of some new MSM/Libspeak term? What are the Supreme Court Rules? A sense a PR campaign being birthed...
On the average, LoseOn...I mean, MoveOn is, in my opinion, on its way to the list of Things Republicans Thank God For. Howard Dean's big mouth and stunted intellect are on that list already. Ads like this and the Bill Frist/Star Wars spots are juvenile and seem like the product of college kids. Most voters will ignore them as nonsense. Those that would believe them are busy in San Francisco (see another very gripping thread here on FR).
As someone already pointed out here, the Pope is not being nominated to the Supreme Court, and any rational person (this excludes liberals, natch) can understand that any jurist with religious beliefs is not automaticaly a religious zealot, regardless of what LoseOn intimates.
Let them keep underestimating the intellect of the American voters. It wastes George Soros' money!
Amen. Rather than simply invoke a protest, let's send this across to the ADN and see if there are grounds for suing the a** of MoveOn.org.
It escapes them that most normal people reject the Christian version of the Taliban as much as the muslim one.
The Church stands against same-sex marriage and abortion on demand. It is seen as an enemy by much of the left. An obstacle to what they want.
Sad.
Now all you need to do is define it.
On of my continuing irritations is people who consciously insist on speaking in "tribal knowlege" and using acronyms.
What they really dislike is a well educated middle class who can see through their deceit, religious bigotry, and hatred of a free people.
Moveon.org is one of the most hate filled groups I have ever encountered. They are condescending and rude. They arrived in town, had demonstrations outside the courthouse before the Bush Kerry election and flipped the bird to any driver not agreeing with the signs or nasty taunts. The night brought more moveon.org news. Cars with Bush Cheney stickers were "painted" with ugly nazi slogans. The yard signs were also painted with the same words. Not until the out of town moveon.org gangs arrived did we have anything like this in any election. They are vulgar and angry.
This is tame. From that crowd, this is the equivalent of a compliment. I guess they no longer consider him the equivalent of Hitler.
I think it was George Will who pointed out that this seems to be the way they think they'll bring the Catholic vote back to the Dems! ;-)
I'm not at all surprised by this. Has anyone, especially Virginian Freepers, seen the moveon ad about the filibuster? And how the Republicans were destroying the country, etc. It was pretty awful. This ad is even worse.
