Religa, Kaczynski Even in Polands Electoral Race
(Angus Reid Global Scan) Two candidates are tied in the early stages of the campaign to choose Polands new president, according to a poll by GFK published in Rzeczpospolita. 23 per cent of respondents would vote for current senator Zbigniew Religa, while 23 per cent would support Warsaw mayor Lech Kaczynski.
Religaa cardiologistwas first elected to the Senate in 1993, earning new terms in 1997 and 2001. Last year, Religa founded the Centre (C) party. Kaczynski is a member of the Law and Justice Party (PiS) and has served as the capitals head of government since 2002.
Self-Defence of the Polish Republic (SRP) leader Andrzej Lepper is third with 16 per cent, followed by Civic Platform (PO) leader Donald Tusk with 15 per cent, and Marek Borowski of the Social Democracy of Poland (SDP) with 13 per cent. Former prime minister Waldemar Pawlak of the Peasants Party (PSL), Adam Gierek of the Democratic Left Alliance-Labour Union (SLD-UP), Maciej Giertych of the League of Polish Families (LPR) and Wladyslaw Frasyniuk of the Democratic Party (PD) are in single digits.
SLD member Aleksander Kwasniewski has been Polands head of state since 1995. The election is scheduled for Oct. 9. If no candidate garners more than 50 per cent of all cast ballots, a run-off would take place on Oct. 23.
In a prospective second round, Kaczynski holds a two per cent lead over Religa. Either of the two main contenders would defeat Lepper and Tusk in a run-off.

Kaczynskiemu odbija ostatnio, duma go pociagnela . Facet nie potrafi sie wypowiedziec poprawnie; nawet nie chce nawiazywac do jego przeszlosci. Jezeli chodzi o Rogile to juz jest inna sprawa, patrzac sie przez pryzmat faktow; w rzeczywistosci nie ma kogos z twardym karkiem.
