I've noticed that Al Hunt replaced Mark Shields as the moderator of "Capital Gang." Does anyone know why? I doubt that this show is even watched by most Freepers. I watch it because I really like what Kate O'beirne has to say and usually Robert Novak. I generally manage to watch it a few minutes before I develop an incredible urge to up-chuck due to some gloating or sarcastic comment from the two libs. Is there some sort of rift between Hunt and Shields? Just curious.

Maybe Mark Shields isn't well, or maybe he's taking a hiatus to write a book? He'd been there donkey's years, so to replace him because of say, low Nielsen numbers makes no sense. So few watch it anyway. Who knows. He's come out with some loathesome comments about republicans over the years, inexcusable. And he always got so hot under the collar whenever anyone suggested he was wrong or slanderous.
Maybe he went to get new glasses, his old ones are so crooked.
I've wondered the same thing. Maybe the same CNN geniuses who thought Paula Zahn would be their ticket to great ratings thought Al Hunt was sexy. The worst of the lot, in my opinion is the odious weasel-girl, Margaret Carlson. Like you, I sometimes watch for Kate O'Bierne and Novack but I can't take the show for more than two commercial breaks. (And what's with the set? They look like they're on the old Captain Kangaroo show. I keep waiting for ping-pong balls to fall on their heads.)
I would trade one Mark Shields for one Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
'Female problems'
I've seen him on other shows recently. I don't know why he left "The Capitol Gang", and I don't care. Just once, I wanted to see Robert Novak get up out of his chair, walk over to Shields, and land a solid right cross on his jaw.
Back in the early 90's Al Hunt was the moderator and then switched with Mark Shields. Can't stand either one of them. Love Kate--used to like it when Mona Charon came on, too. The most amazing thing I recently heard was that Robert Novak is the executive producer of the show. So they all actually work for him. I guess he likes it when they make those smarmy sarcastic jokes about how mean and rich he is--as a typical Republican, of course.
I watched that show for about 5 minutes for the first time in maybe 5 years before I had to turn it off for reasons mentioned here which I mentioned on a thread and was told by Freeper onyx that the show had been cancelled. Maybe Hunt is holding down the fort until the thing is fully dead.
Of all the Liberals on all the TV shows. No one makes me puks faster than Eleonor Clift. She is better than Ipicac. I suggest hospitals keep her picture to show their poison patients.
Mark Shields has Irish charm?
Looking at her, like Larry King, you can almost smell the halitosis.
Brain transplant. I understand he could have gotten Einstein's brain but rejected a used brain in favor of 1 that had never been used, a deceased reporter's.

I actually don't mind Shields that much, he doesn't come off as the total ass that Hunt does. I thought I heard somewhere Shields was sick or something.
