I wasn't listening very closely (catching up on this thread)- - there was a Dim and Pubbie strategist on Fox & Friends within the last 1/2 hour or so. The Dim said that Bubba released info for Holbrooke and Pres Bush released info when Negropointe was nominated for the UN position, so it's not setting a precedent. The Pubbie (I've seen him on quite a few times - think his name was Rogers) said maybe Pres Bush should release the info. What no one mentioned is that while info was released - was it really 'similar' type info? And, given the situation in Lebannon and our relationship w Syria, is it in the US's interest to release this info to the Senate, knowing that Leaky Leahy or Babble-on Boxer (my new name for her ;-) will find a way to get anything out to the MSM that might hurt Bolton or Bush, regardless of national Security, foreighn policy stratergies, etc. In fact, as we know, they'll even go so far to make up or exagerate stuff. IMHO the Dims are clearly on a fishing expedition and don't need this info - - they've had hours of testimony.
I think your point is very important---this Administration knows what with communication world-wide as instantaneous as it is, and with the history of politicians to "leak" classified info.....the LAST thing they want right now is a leak that could, yet again, influence what they are trying to accomplish in Syria...
Besides, I heard today that Negroponte, NOW has grand poobah of intelligence is very against giving them this information---and since the dems were gung-ho on the 9/11 commission command that we add a Intel grand poobah, they can't very well come back now and say he doesn't have the right to withhold sensitive documents, now can they?
He was confirmed anyway.
