I agree with hoping she wins.
Lose weight, sissy boy. (This from a fat grandma. I'm not, however, expecting others to level my playing field for me!)

Why is he complaining? She`s a woman driver. She will start the race by going in reverse, then hit the gas instead of the brake, then hit the cars as they lap her, then blame it on the other cars for getting her way, then complain that this is making her late for shopping.

You should try reading, then. It's more than just a useful skill, after all.
But to recap, my point was that there were too many whiners complaining about the little girl's unfair advantage...begging for Affirmative Action for poor White Male Drivers in order to "level" the playing field for them.

She's already ticked me off, from all the publicity.
Letterman owns [part of?] the car. He went on and on and on about her earlier in the week. I had to change stations.
I came back five minutes later, and he still was talking about her.
And yes, Robby Gordon is just whining.
If Patick's car meets the specs, tough cookies to Gordon.
If Patrick wins without wiping out half the field, great.
To: freepatriot32
He`s complaining about a woman driver in a race? Shouldn`t he be happy?

This lady will wilt under the conditions and that will be that.
I doubt it. Rahal and Letterman wouldn't have spent the time and money on giving her a ride if they didn't think she had a chance to finish strong. I don't think Donica will win because rookies don't win that often. However, she has handled the press magnificently and is starting 4th tomorrow. Overall, she's done a great job for Rahal/Letterman, and her story has created a lot of buzz around the 500 that has been absent for years.
To: auboy
In her interview on Letterman she said that she did advise other drivers that (because of the design aerodynamics) it's easier if you drive around the track faster.
(and, shut up Robby)
To: Obadiah
Most racing sports do not adjust for the driver's weight. For example, Robbie Gordon would never be considered for Formula One for two reasons. #1 He's not good enough. #2 He is about 50 pounds too heavy. If he doesn't like it he can diet.
What is NASCAR to do? What if a 300 lb. guy wants to drive, do all other cars have to carry an extra 100+ lbs. of ballast?

100 pounds is a very significant weight differential in a race car (to deny that is simply to deny the laws of physics), and virtually every major racing series except IRL calculates minimum car weight with the driver aboard, just for that reason. That is Gordon's complaint, albeit poorly reported by someone who probably doesn't even understand it.
Don't take my word for it...see post #20. He's done the math.

I'm not blinded by her beauty or her gender. You'll see in any other post of mine that I love the differences and I get sick of people trying to unisex the world. In this case, however, there are no physical limitations on women; and women don't hinder the sport because of their gender. This, for once, is fair.
Women can be 100 - 300-pounders. Men can be 100 - 300-pounders. If this were a small man--a jockey-sized man--would he have the right to complain? I'm bettin' it would never come up!
Further, she is a beautiful young woman. Handsome and pretty have always drawn attention. We grandma's don't whine because people don't whistle at grandmas.
This is all a case of one whining loser pointing the finger anywhere he can find to NOT have to accept personal responsibility.

Maybe the publicity has ticked you off, but it has been a blessing to the race. The 500 has fallen on hard times lately, and the buzz she's created has definitely helped out.

BWAA HA HA! Sure, sure...And instead of being sponsored by Marlboro, they could get San Francisco rainbow crybaby sponsorships for all the whining that they did to make it "fair" for the 300 pounder!

All Gordon is saying is that IRL's rules should conform to virtually every other major racing series when it comes to calculating the minimum car weight. F1 is dominated by little guys. The total weight will need to be at least 200 lbs greater then the max usefull weight of the car (whatever that might be). Otherwise lighter drivers might still carry an advantage from being able to build a little more car (or perhaps fine adjust the car balance with weights). Without that the big old stock car drivers are doomed. In america much of the fan base are bascially NASCAR fans.
What's the saying in F1? 'In the old days when drivers where fat and tires were skinny.'
