BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone was arrested for investigation of drug possession and driving while intoxicated, police said Saturday.
Stone, 58, was arrested Friday night at a police checkpoint on Sunset Boulevard after showing signs of alcohol intoxication, police Sgt. John Edmundson said.
A search of his Mercedes turned up drugs, Edmundson said. He did not specify what kind.
Stone was released Saturday morning after posting $15,000 bail.
A message left Saturday with Stone's agent David Styne was not immediately returned.
In 1999, the filmmaker pleaded guilty to drug possession and no contest to driving under the influence and was ordered into a rehabilitation program.
Stone's films include the recent "Alexander," "JFK" (1991) and "Natural Born Killers" (1994). He won Academy Awards for directing in 1989 for "Born on the Fourth of July" and in 1986 for "Platoon," which also won the Oscar for best picture. He lives in Los Angeles.
Of course he'll get off with some kind of diversion program becuase he's one of the "beautiful people".
Heck, Hali Berry had two hit and runs and she never did no time .
As much as checkpoints are crassly anticonstitutional, the amusement value is undeniable in this case: Arrogant cokehead, drunk, scumbag gets bagged on his way home from getting a hummer from a tall "woman" with size 14 shoes and an adam's apple. ROTFL.
Bingo
Thanks for the good news ping King!!
I can just leave it at his front door with the statement
" In my estimation, don't hesitate"
That works.
It's really too bad though, he would just piss himself and go running for his therapist because of that evil gun threatening him as it lay there.
When foreign policy experts go bad...film at 11.
What the norm for a 2 timer DUI caught with drugs in CA?
Yes. Guns kill........all by themselves : )
1) Are we (FReeper community) nuanced enough to understand the pressures that Mr Stone goes through on a daily basis and judge how hard it must be to be him? and #2
2) BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
6 months to a year, plus 3 years probation, and mandatory rehab.
Maybe he can hire Kevin Costner to prove that he was set up...
You'd have to be smashed and stoned to make the movies that he does.
A years probation, forty hours picking up trash, and manditory six month drunk school.
That's assuming he had a good lawyer on the first one and did'nt get convicted for the DUI.
With lawyers the second is the first that counts. That's assuming he completed his probation for whatever he was convicted for the first time. If he's still on probation for #1 he is in much more trouble, as the original deal could unravel.
Also not it the drugs were pot, not on his person, and he has a doctors rec he will walk on them. If the drugs are coke or he was smoking as he drove down the road he is in much bigger trouble.
I know an idiot who's working on his drunk school for #3. He actually did a couple of weeks at the farm for that one.
Let him do community service. Like actually making a good movie.
Another dastardly plot by Bush, Karl Rove, and the EEEEVVVVIIIILLLLL Republicans!!!!!
Really, is this a surprise???
Sunset Blvd. Is a long street. Hooker Alley, Strip Malls, Upscale shops and restuarants and then into Beverly Hills and on to the beach. Lot's to chose from, but certainly hookers if he wanted.
