Can he use the nuclear option for Bolton? What are his options?"""
As the nuclear option is currently defined, he can't use it (it's currently defined as only applying to judges). What are his options? If the Dems really filibuster and have the votes to sustain a filibuster, then I think they win -- on Bolton, at any rate.
To: Brilliant
I think McCain's deal only applied to judges.Which is why we can invoke the nuclear option on Bolton which would then apply to the judges as well.
Keep tuned.

What part of the agreement that said "only" judicial nominations do all of you not understand? Can you people not read or hear?
There have been numerous posters saying only judicial nominations were in the agreement and yet some Freepers continue to ignore. Do you know how stupid you are all making yourselves look?
Read the agreement and then come back and tell us it is for all nominees not just judges!

Recess appointment...problem solved!

Because it would be the same thing with Hillary. The Dems get their way. Always.
At least I'll be voting for the winner.
Face it, these pubs are losers. I don't even want to hear anymore. Specter's a problem yet don't I recall the great uproar to remove him from the judiciary committee? Yet they kept him? We don't matter to those spineless wimps. The election's over....we who vote are of no consequence.
that's the message I'm getting.

The nuclear option was only suppossed to be for judicial nominee, but as this vote just showed, we should make it for all presidential appointees. After all, the basis against filibustering for a judicial nominees comes from a passage in the constitution that applies to all nominees. One of the core arguments that Democrats use to try to justify the filibuster against judicial appointments is that they are lifetime appointments and herefore oughtto be subject to special scrutiny. That argument does not hold water in the case of diplomatic appointments.
I'd say that right now would be a good time to rule that the filibuster is not permitted for advise and consent votes of any kind.

Don't worry Frist and the Republicans will cave in once again. Perhaps I just do not understand it, but sometimes it just seems that the Republicans in the Senate are worthless. They are more concerned about the Senate than what is best for our country.

THE GOP NEEDS A NEW SENATE MAJORITY LEADER! PERIOD

I am sure the MSM will back up Reid too. The MSM is the lap dog of the DemoRats.

We'd need a media that gives a crap for that to happen. Please pardon me if I sound a little jaded.

Brit Hume says (paraphrase) no matter what Reed says, under any definition that has been used in Washington for year, this is a filibuster.

Do you know how stupid you are all making yourselves look? With all due respect....
Look at how the Dems are jerking the pubs around with Bolton. They are not filibustering Bolton. They are filibustering for the release of some papers. Papers that mean nothing.
I think most of us know that the agreement was for only judicial nominees but it's like a slap in the face the day after this agreement. We're fed up. Why don't people get this?

I think it is time for Frist to arm the implosion charges, inject the tritium, start the neutron generator, and then:: BOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!
(for those who may be unaware, those are all steps, in detonating a real nuclear weapon).
