Shock Mom and Dad: Become a Neo-Nazi (Right Wing Extremism in Germany)
Der Spiegel ^ | May 23, 2005 | Dominik Cziesche and 5 Co-Authors

German young people, faced with liberal parents who are tolerant about sex, drugs and rock and roll, are increasingly rebelling by turning to right-wing extremism. Neo-nazi fashion, music and ideology have become an ever important part of German youth culture.

Where did this "German" image come from? It's hard to say who the first person was to show up to a party in a Lonsdale shirt, curse "the Russians" or download the latest CDs by Bremen's Germanic renegade heavy metal band Kategorie C.

But Christian, Stefan and Andy don't really care how it all started. They see just themselves as good kids, living in decent families in a small city west of Munich. They're in their late teens, about to graduate from high school. And they say that there are too many foreigners "in our country." They say that "they" should leave, and that then things would be sure to get better.

They believe that if foreigners left there would be more jobs and fewer unemployed Turks getting money from the government. There would be no Albanian drug dealers on the streets and no macho Islamic guys hitting on their girlfriends. They would also no longer run the risk of being beaten up by large groups of "Russians" on a Friday night in front of their favorite bar. They say it is always "the Russians" who attack first.

Christian, Stefan and Andy aren't the fighting types. They repeat stupid xenophobic language, but aren't just dim-witted thugs. They say that they would never vote for the NPD — or not yet at any rate. They say they're afraid. Afraid of violent foreigners in their own home town. So afraid, in fact, that they wouldn't even give us their real first names.

To avoid getting bloody noses, they've discovered a detour through back yards when they go out on a Friday night. Ever since the neighborhood near the train station became a ghetto for immigrants, drunk young Russian-born Germans (the descendants of Germans who were deported to the Soviet Union after World War II) have been cruising the city's downtown streets and alleys, looking for a fight. First, says Andy, they surround their victim, then start pushing him around, and finally descend on him with their fists. Since then the three teenagers, all tall and athletic, have been avoiding the gas station and the athletic club's parking lot, places where the Russians hang out.

It's long been a theory of mine that the far Left actually attempts to create a far Right by prohibiting action in the Center. Thus, on immigration, the Left promotes immigration, legal or otherwise, undermines enforcement of whatever immigration laws do remain, pits the immigrants against the members of the native lower classes, and then condemns the members of the lower classes when they respond just as we reasonably might expect them to respond, i.e., by resenting and/or attacking the immigrants.

LaRouche is a regular on the local public access channel. Wearing a suit with a presidential red tie, and standing in front of an American flag, he delivers lectures to his rapt audience of 50 seniors and college students. He acts like he's a player on the world stage.

My son was complaining about the weirdo group outside of Wiesbaden wanting to lock all Turks up in camps or ship them out. He said it's kind of scarey to watch history repeat itself.

It's scary watching the Bund busily posting away here, cheering it on and demanding that it happen in America too.

Excellent question! Nothing is wrong with the desire to have your own country/family. The Germans are going to vote 'capitalism' at the next election. This will turn Europe around. This will follow the rejection of the EU Constitution in France and the Netherlands. The future is bright!

See my post #61. When the German government allows immigration in excess of what the country can absorb (unemployent was about 9.2% the last time I heard), isn't it reasonable to expect this kind of reaction among those who feel pushed aside, and that the less disciplined among them will resort to violence and intimidation? And if the authorities can have reasonably expected this reaction, aren't they partly to blame for the consequenses of their immigration policies?

Sounds as bad as American school kids knowledge of American history. Sad what people know, or more to the point, don't know about their heritage nowadays.

"He acts like he's a player on the world stage."

He does go on at length regarding world economics as best I can recall. It goes downhill from there, if you ever have occasion to look into it any further, though. Or, at least that's my opinion.

That's probably why they're being libeled as Nazis.

Well, they also call themselves Nazi's.

Thats not going to help them either.

Hitler was also a vegetarian & banned smoking.

He wanted to Ban smoking, he didn't actually do it.

What scares me, is that he didn't think it was possible to ban smoking at that time, but we have liberals today who he would probably consider extreme regarding smoking.

"Oh, by the way, was Hitler really Europe's foremost vegetarian during the 1930's?"

Benito Mussolini would probably beg to differ.

He was also a vegetarian, and very strict about it.

Most of his officers smoked. He never succeeded in his ban, but he did embark on a campaign against smoking.

They sure as hell didn't.

From a book I read years and years ago, they also tried not to drink to much in front of him, and if they wanted to kiss up to him, they would avoid eating meat in front of him, so he might think they were also vegetarians.

It didn't work.

Regarding where the word "Nazi" comes from:

In German, ideology was called Nazional Sozialismus, prounounced "Nah-tsi-oh-nahl Zoh-tsi-ahl-iss-moose".

Hence the shortened form = Nazi.

He sure is. He's even got people with recruiting tables here in San Francisco, oddly enough, or maybe not. You see them once in a while.
