Professional Sportscaster Wants To Be Governor
(Williamsport) -- Former professional football player and now professional sportscaster Lynn Swan wants to be the next governor of Pennsylvania and he was in Williamsport today to meet with several area government officials at Penn College.
Swan says he will bring integrity and leadership to the office. Swan noted that millions of dollars designated for bridge and highway repairs and construction has been taken away to bail out Philadelphia and Pittsburgh's mass transit systems. He says that's wrong to penalize the entire state. "I live outside of Pittsburgh. But if you become governor of Pennsylvania, you should be governor for all of Pennsylvania, not just one area."
Meanwhile, State Representative Steve Cappelli got a dig into Governor Ed Rendell and the loudest cheers when he commented that "we have a professional sportscaster who wants to be governor and we have a governor who wants to be a sportscaster." (By Kathy Thomas)
He's a Republican, and a solid conservative to boot. He'd make a great governor.
Being a mayor, senator, congressman (person),a lawyer or doctor doesn't qualify one to be Governor either
Ping
That's good to hear, but he'd better be prepared for the knives aimed at his back from the Soul Patrol and George Soros crowd...just ask Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell.
-Regards, T.
The key will be if he can attract any of the black vote from the dem machine. Do you have any feel for that? Has it been polled since he first flirted with the idea of running?
Swanny is a Republican. Just how far right is yet to be seen.
The libertarians have us beat:
He was very actively campaigning for W last year.
His name is Lynn?
That sounds like real good news for Pennsylvania. Swann is a family minded conservative.
LOL! I forgot about the blue guy!
Hopefully so. As I mentioned when Steve Largent won everyone was saying he had the race in the bag, but Brad Henrey somehow pulled it off. Hopefully Lynn won't be the second hall of fame reciever to lose a governer's race.
Are you aware of his political donations? One must wonder about his conservativeness after reading below:

Looks like a "Heinz"-Pittsburgh connection to me.
This was long before he got interested in politics. I think 9/11 sparked his fire.
IIRC, Largent had the race won, but in the last weeks said/did some pretty stupid stuff..he blew it..
Swannee, how I love you, how I love you, dear old Swannee!
(Can't help myself sometimes!;^)
Should be a very interesting race..Rush Limbaigh will no doubt campaign for Swann..and that means Donovan McNab will come out for Rendell...So, will TO still be in Philly to endorse anybody?
somehow coburn got away with saying that abortion performing doctors should be put to death ro something incredibly unwise to say on the campaign trail, yet he won.
