How do you get permission from a secret Kabbalist?

Probably need to kmow a secret handshake or have a decoder ring of some sort.

Be sure to drink your Ovaltine. Ovaltine? A crummy commercial? Son of a bitch!

Hmmm...he doesn't look like Harrison Ford.

But does resemble the Sean Connery's Dr. Henry Jones

I can just see an air strike by the IAF with a bunch of F-16's that lay the Dome of the Rock to waste.

Doubtful. The Israeli government is rational, unlike many of their neighbors. Israel is not interested in fighting a holy war with the Muslim world.

There are all kinds of theories.

Personally, I think the Axum one is most likely.

When Cyrus sent Ezra to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple, he sent along “the articles belonging to the temple of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem” (Ezra 1:7). The text enumerates them, but conspicuous by its absence, and indeed by any mention of it, was the Ark.

Ezra succeeded, but what was the point with no Ark? It contained the Law, and it was the central feature of the Temple. Ezra's actions in rebuilding the Temple without the ark, and never noting its absence, are bizarre.

The circumstances of Cyrus’ blessing of, and assistance in, the rebuilding of the Temple clearly are intended to be taken by us as being miraculous—only God could have produced such a reversal. Yet if God was superintending it, why did He not also include the Ark and its Covenant? Its absence screams for an explanation—but we are offered none.

A reasonable inference is that God is telling us to forget the Ark and look instead for a better Covenant. Four hundred fifty years later, He sent His Son to be that New Covenant.

I still think it's in Ethiopia as referenced in 2 Chronicles 35, and Isaiah 18. It's at "Lake Tana". There's some dudes there that claim to have it, and guard it.

Please read Isaiah 18, then Acts 8 (Story of the Ethiopian).

It's believed these two passages are related. The idea is that the Ethiopian people believe they are to return a great treasure on "The day of the Lord". They have heard the Messiah was in Israel so they sent their treasurer to check things out. When he gets there, he finds out that Christ has been crucified. So, he is on his way back home, reading the scroll of Isaiah and the passage we now refer to as Chapter 53 (the Suffering Messiah), scratching his head and tying to figure things out.

Then, along comes Philip ...

Hmmm, a very long tunnel out into the desert ~ sounds like an irrigation tunnel very similar to those found throughout the Andes, Afghanistan, Persia, various places in Central Asia, and so on.

The idea with these tunnels is to reduce evaporation of the water.

The discovery of such a tunnel leading from Jerusalem, a source of water, to the Judean desert, really wouldn't be a surprise.

Hmmm, just read about these while doing some research for a novel. They are called Qanats in the Persion regions. Check out this link and go down about a third of the page and look for Qanat. It's pretty cool.

While you're at it, also check out the section entitled "Ship Railroad of Corinth". It is really amazing. Explains why Corinth was known as a wealthy city.

Will do. I recalled the irrigation tunnel technique immediately because they had a "travel" show on the other night showing how extensive they were in the high plateau country in Peru. A guy was found crawling through a small one clearing roots ~ the tunnel was over 1,000 years old and was still being maintained by a local farmer.

The tunnels in Afghanistan were a big concern during the period of combat. Earlier they caused the Soviets all sorts of problems because the Afghan mujahadeen could move vast distances without detection in those systems.

I'[ve read that book several years ago. Everytime I happen upon a history show narrated by someone with a british accent, I pause to see if it is Graham Hancock. Usually it is.

I especially enjoy the calculations he makes in the book on how the great pryamid was built. Making rather conservative estimates something like "A 20 thousand pound stone lifted and mortored into place every 30 seconds".

These qanats found throughout the former Persian Empire (which also includes "you know where") have been constructed from the earliest times ~ 3000 BC for example.  That's 5,000 years ago, or thereabouts.

Check Post #71 for further discussion of the matter.

You can check out this URL for a picture of how to build one.  Some are 400 feet deep.  They start in the highlands and head out into the desert as far as 100 miles.

This article says there are 170,000 miles of them in 22,000 different structures in just modern Iran ~ still working too!

I didn't know the author of that book had ever made such a claim about how quickly the pyramids were built.

However, based on my reading of the subject, those blocks were probably placed there very rapidly indeed.

As a matter of fact, it appears that the interior of many pyramids were either based around rock outcroppings, or stone rubble was used as fill in the interior sections to speed up construction.
