Man, you paint quite a depressing picture.

I've posted here on the "Compromise of the 14" quite a lot this week. I am very disappointed also, but I feel that, for myself, I have to do something other than give up. I don't know what that is, exactly, yet. Unfortunately.

I can only add that it IS distressing to see Bush and the Republican leadership in such an apparently weak position. Hard to imagine this was the same crew (more or less) who faced down the terrorists.

I hope to God we are not attacked again. But what will we say looking back at all this if we are?

Yep - that is what all my voting for 40 years has netted me.

Nah we got a few good people in office for 40 years of voting. Don't give up so easily! Crying 1

Listen Bob, go ahead and surrender. Feel free. I hate losing more than you probably can even understand but it ain't over til we win whether it takes a month or another 40 years. Losing is what the other guy does and one battle isn't the war.

Now get out of the way, find a corner, and cry yourself a river so the rest of us can get back to the fight.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of truth in this... Just hope that things change before it becomes too late.

Dag nabbit, Bob. As you know, politics is a long-term game that requires the virtues of faith, courage, and persistence. If you surrender, the dark side wins!

Here's the bottom line on what happened this week: because Frist threatened the nuke option, the first nominee has now been confirmed.

After 8 years of a total do-nothing presidency (19992 to 2000), now we have the most transformational president of modern times.

Might be over the top a little but Bob makes some good points.

President Bush has been less than impressive in pushing his domestic agenda and dealings with the RATS and RINOS. Considering everything on his plate he has done a pretty good job overall. Worst prez in history? I think not.

While I disagree with you, you have been here far longer then I, and, have more then earned your right to gripe about the state of things as they are today.

You'll hear no complaint from me, other then disagreement.

If President George Bush accedes to this power grab, he will go down as the worst President in history.

Someone is misunderestimating someone else.

You might want to try decaf for a while. ;-)

This whole situation has been nothing more than media-hyped nonsense, mainly because there really isn't a heck of a lot going on for anyone in the media to talk about.

We'll have three confirmation votes in short order (the three nominees invited to the White House this week, in case you have any doubt about the President's influence), and others will follow. The real test comes if/when a Supreme Court vacancy opens -- and if you think this administration is going to have a Supreme Court appointment derailed by GOP senators, then you must be smoking crack.

Hell I am wondering to this day why a war time president didnt close down the borders right after 9/11. I wondered it while I was pulling the freaking lever for Bush. This is just another symtom of a major problem (Of course I do realise, that would have been worse by geometric progession if the Ketchup Queen and his wife were to get into the oval orifice)

Senate: Gives Power to Courts.

President: Gives Nomination power to Senate.

Next: Supreme Court will vet Federal Court Nominees.
