ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) — A ten-year-old Anniston boy is in a lot of trouble today after he reportedly punched a teacher after she demanded he remove a headband he wore in the school lunchroom.

Now police are getting involved and say the youngster could face felony assault charges.

The incident happened Monday at Tenth Street Elementary School.

Police said the teacher was treated for a bruise to her face.

No charges were immediately and the teacher has not decided whether to file a petition in juvenile court. The boy's name was withheld.

Anniston School Superintendent Sammy Felton had no comment, but said the matter will be dealt with in accordance with school policy.

"...and when the single mother rises up in sheer disbelief that her little thug was accused of this. "

I help coach my son's 13-14y/o baseball team. We have a roster of 12. 6 of the boys are living with their mom only. One of them had his dad pass away. The other 5 are victims of divorce. Of the remaining 5, 1 quit. 2 have missed games due to poor behavior at school and at home. And another got expelled from school for hitting a teacher.

So in my small sample, in a relatively decent middle class suburb: 41% divorce rate. And of those with divorce, the child has problems 80% of the time.

No wonder this country is where it is today.

Theft of property or stifling his independence and self-expression. I'm sure 'experts' will testify to the damage to the boy's self esteem. And the teacher will be sent of for a seminar in cultural diversity or some such thing. And in 6 mos or so, parents will be complaining about the clothing choices of some of the students...

If that were my child, he'd spend the next month wishing he could sit down without it hurting.

The thing is, I doubt this kid has parents who see anything wrong with what he did.

I expect the school board will eventually pressure the teacher to not pursue charges or risk losing her job.

If I had ever struck a teacher, there would have been no need for expulsion, suits, or any other action by anyone outside my family. I'd've been buried in the back yard.

We're Not Gonna Take It Lyrics

Oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

we've Got The Right To Choose And
there Ain't No Way We'll Lose It
this Is Our Life, This Is Our Song
we'll Fight The Powers That Be Just
don't Pick Our Destiny 'cause
you Don't Know Us, You Don't Belong

oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

oh You're So Condescending
your Gall Is Never Ending
we Don't Want Nothin', Not A Thing From You
your Life Is Trite And Jaded
boring And Confiscated
if That's Your Best, Your Best Won't Do

oh.....................
oh.....................
we're Right/yeah
we're Free/yeah
we'll Fight/yeah
you'll See/yeah

oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
no Way!

oh.....................
oh.....................
we're Right/yeah
we're Free/yeah
we'll Fight/yeah
you'll See/yeah

we're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

we're Not Gonna Take It, No!
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

just You Try And Make Us
we're Not Gonna Take It
come On
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
you're All Worthless And Weak
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
now Drop And Give Me Twenty
we're Not Gonna Take It
oh Crinch Pin
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh You And Your Uniform
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

I know a young teacher who was head-butted in the mouth by a third grader who got mad a couple of weeks ago. The teacher and her husband couldn't believe the school did nothing to this kid. Needless to say, she's not going to teach anymore. Tsk, tsk...

*The kids name is Armageddon. How's that for living up to parental expectations?

"Translation: The teacher will be fired for attempted theft of a headband. The child was merely defending himself and his property."

Na, the teacher will be fired for hitting the student's fist with her face.

I expect the school board will eventually pressure the teacher to not pursue charges or risk losing her job.

And if that's the case, that should open up the school board for an even bigger lawsuit. John Edwards!! Where are you? Still unemployed? Here's a ligitimate use for a trial attorney!!

Now little Johnny is going to go to court and it will be a big problem for all associated with this.

Except for the lawyers, who'll be getting tons of billable hours.

She's lucky... When I was a senior in highschool, one of the teachers (a really nice, little guy. I had him for "social studies" my freshman year) got hit in the face with a brick!

Parents, school officials and police can either address this now...

or the police, the prisons and "the system" will fix it later. The longer the wait, the more victims. The longer the wait, the worse the damage. The longer the wait, the more costly the fix. The longer the wait, the less chance the fix will do any good.

As of two days ago, I have a 10 year old son. As a parent, I would do everything I could to get this fixed now.

My grade school Principal was also our 5th grade teacher.
We had a pretty good sized male teacher in 6th grade who was
also the 'go to' guy for all matters physical..

But our Principal rarely needed his help...heck I remember
poor ole Guy Karo getting dragged out of his desk by the ear
and yanked across the hall into the empty school nurses office
where our teacher gave him more than a few whacks with a heavy duty yardstick she kept for just such matters..

This was just for having a can of pretty old night crawlers
in his desk..

I believe the student got the message pretty loud and clear and did not seem too psychologically traumatized...

I heard he retired a few years back as a Sgt Major after 30 yrs. the US Army..

and a civil claim against this child and his parents.

Parents? I'd be surprised if the boy turned out to have more than one.

Amen, brother or sister. And the same at 18, for that matter, at my place.
