Inouye threatened the first President Bush with impeachment if the first Gulf War didn't go well.
He is also buddies with Gen. Shinseki......
IOW, not to be trusted.

What does this mean? They're pushing for the dems to filibuster? Since he was supposed to be thrown overboard.
Guess that shows what they thought of the Weasel Consortium.

This is a retreat from the prior statements that ALL nominees should get an up or down vote. His wording sounded like a retreat to me too.

RATS will not let Owen get to the 60 vote threshold, as that would undermine their past and future arguments that she and others like her are "extremists".
This will not be an election issue for RAT Senators in 2006, even in red states. People don't care if their senator voted for this judge or that judge.
Conversely, every RAT senator has every left-wing interest group watching their vote on Owen very carefully. Campaign $$$ is at stake.
Owen will get no more than 57-58 votes, probably fewer.
But who cares, she wil be confirmed.

I could be dead wrong, but I don't Frist is going to let those thrown overboard stay there! I think they will call them up for a vote! You're dead wrong.

Is it just me... or
does this deal not constitute a change in the Senate's way of doing business... precisely what the Democrats said they were against--changing the hallowed traditions of the Senate.
Our first speaker has just aluded to the "new way the Senate will be dealing with judicial nominations".

They didn't mention the time; Reid just said he wanted clarity because he didn't want to be blamed for not moving forward and Frist said something about after Owen, they would work on Bolton.

I thought debate was closed for the Owen vote. Is Burns up speaking for Meyers under morning business?
Yes, just making the Dems crazy? I think Frist wants to get the three and then Bolton then he will call for the vote on the guys under the bus! My guess!

Remember when you and your sibling did something wrong and you thought your dad didn't know and you were in tiptoe phase (scared the hammer would drop)?
Definitely a Caption Contest here.

Frist is playing with the RATS in order to protect Bolton. Then he'll go back to a hardball position on all judicial nominees.
