Baptist Minister Urges Quran Be 'Flushed'
NBC 4 Columbus ^ | May 24, 2005

FOREST CITY, N.C. -- A Baptist minister in North Carolina is refusing to apologize for a church sign that says the Muslim Quran should be flushed.

The Rev. Creighton Lovelace, of Danieltown Baptist Church, says right is right, and he feels he was right when he posted a message outside his church condemning the Quran, reported Greenville-Spartanburg TV station WYFF.

"I cannot change my position just because it may offend someone else," Lovelace said.

Lovelace said he put the sign up in response to a Newsweek article that falsely accused U.S.soldiers of flushing the Quran down a toilet at the Guantamo Bay detention center. Newsweek later retracted that story, but not before the article sparked riots in some Muslim parts of world, killing at least 15 people.

Lovelace said he's received a few complaints about the sign, but that he stands by it.

"Where is the desecration of the Quran? Because from the viewpoint of Christ -- the Bible -- 66 books is his revealed word to mankind. Any other book trying to state they are God's revealed message to mankind would be false," Lovelace said.

He said he has a right and responsibility to expose what he calls false teachings to the world.

"Our position is that we stand on the Bible -- God's word -- and that any other book that teaches a way to God that is not scripture is false. It is wrong. It is not correct," Lovelace said.

However, even some of those who agree with his message disagree with Lovelace's display, WYFF reported.

" I don't know that I would put the sign out there, but the truth is the truth," said Jamie Hawkins, a Baptist church member.

Lovelace said he would keep the sign up until Friday.

Rev. Creighton Lovelace just put himself on the CAIR-Islamic Nutcase "marked for death" list.

I would think an enterprising Yankee could get mighty rich these days selling toilet paper with all manner of Muslimisms upon it ... not to mention the Newsweek cover ... or the Quran... it would drive them batty!

Rev. Lovelace probably got his license from Jim Billy Bob's Bible College and Auto Parts Store. Like so many of his ilk he would not know Jesus if he tripped over him. But I will say that these Revs do have nice hair.

I'd wager the cringe factor during this guy's sermons is very high.

Someone should build a really big toilet. How big? Just a litte bit bigger than a place with a big black stone in the middle of it.

Amen.

Still, it'll be fun to watch that fat slimy f###, Ibrahim Hooper, hyperventilate all over cable TV about this guy.

The Koran needs to be flushed twice.

It's a long way to Iran.

Rev. Creighton Lovelace just put himself on the CAIR-Islamic Nutcase "marked for death" list.

In all likelyhood it will also put him on a special FBI list.
Didnt the govt say, after this donnybrook started, say that they would punish anyone who desecrated the Koran?

Whats the real dilemma is how this squares with the first amendment.

Thoughts fellow FReepers?

Apparently neither would you. While I may not agree with his style, he speaks the truth. I am not ashamed of the gospel. Are you?

Billy Bob needs a new church sign. This one is old and worn out. IF you going to say something that is going to make public forum. At least have a spiffy church sign. You know. as a pastor, I can understand his position on the quran. But I would never ever put it up on a public sign. Oh well, freedom is a wonderful thing, eh?

Well, according to many judges, the Constitution only applies to those groups other than patriotic law abiding Americans.

Now, if he was castigating white middle class folk, this would clearly be protected.

What did Rev Lovelace say that you disagree with?....and just what kind of people are his "ilk"? I would bet the farm that you haven't a clue what kind of a person Rev Lovelace is...I don't either...except I have determined that he knows that islam is a murderous, backward, dingy, 6th century cult and their book deserves to be flushed and is not afraid to publically say so.

Jesus would never do or say anything resembling what Lovelace is saying. Maybe St. Peter or St. Paul Might have but not Jesus. True disciples do not mouth off like this so called preacher. Rather they crawl up on the cross, silently, like the master did. He should up and put up.

Jesus had manners. He would never have "flushed" anything that is important to someone else.

Creighton's a Cretin.
