Camden (PA) Man Held in Strangulation...(illegal)
Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | 5-24-05 | Troy Graham

Posted on 05/24/2005 2:52:53 PM PDT by txdoda

A man arrested in the death of a Camden woman found hidden in a closet admitted that he sat on her chest and strangled her, prosecutors said today.

The woman, Robin Mitchell, 39, was found dead on May 15 in an apartment in the 2300 block of Federal Street.

Investigators arrested Fernando Chapo, 29, yesterday. He was arraigned in Superior Court in Camden today, and his bail was set at $600,000.

Prosecutors said Chapo was an illegal immigrant from Mexico who used several aliases. When he was arrested, he had an identification under another name, said Assistant Camden County Prosecutor James Conley.

Chapo, who spoke through an interpreter in court, said he had the false identification so he could get a job.

Conley also said Chapo had the same date of birth and physical description as a man named Pedro Garcia, who was convicted of murder in Florida. He said the authorities were comparing fingerprints to determine if Chapo and Garcia are the same person.

Conley said several people may have been staying in the apartment where Mitchell's body was found, but he did not know if Chapo and Mitchell knew each other. He said they were not living together.

A man who did live in the third-floor apartment left the home on May 12 and returned two days later. The next morning, he discovered Mitchell's body hidden under some items in his closet, according to the criminal complaint.

I don't mean to tell the Florida authorities how to do their jobs, but maybe, after convicting this Pedro Gracia for murder, they should have put him in jail.

On a side note: ladies, if you ever find yourself in this position, if your arms are free, what you do is clasp your hands together and then bring them up over your head hard and fast. As your hands, then arms, then shoulders come up between the attacker's arms, it forces them apart and they can't keep their hold on your neck.

But you have to have a follow up move or the attacker will just pin your arms under his knees and start again. I recommend bringing the fists (still clenched together) back down and aiming for the groin.

If you can, follow up with a good old fashioned punch in the nose. If his eyes are watering it's hard for him to see.

Then of course you get out from under him and hightail it out of there. Never stop to watch and see what happens next. Never just do one move. It's like a three-step operation:

1) Break his hold
2) Hurt him bad
3) Run like hell.

his bail was set at $600,000.

I don't get this part. He admitted to doing it, and he's an illegal alien. Why is bail even a possibility? :(

Asked and answered! He got bail BECAUSE he is an illegal. They have special rights. In fact, there are very few laws that they are expected to obey and police departments routinely let them go for crimes that would cause the rest of us to be fined or worse.

Probably Fox demands it & the USA complies.

I posted a thread a few months back about 2 illegal mexicans that plead guilty to child molesting in IL.

Idiot IL judge then allowed them to *self deport*, & they would ONLY serve their 5 yr. sentence *IF* they were caught in the US again. (nothing mentioned about *registering* as sex-offenders either).

Even the illegal criminals have more *rights* than our homegrown criminals.......

They are not really "aliases." He has official Mexican goberment documents each proving that he is the exact person the documents say he is.

Chapo had the same date of birth and physical description as a man named Pedro Garcia, who was convicted of murder in Florida. He said the authorities were comparing fingerprints to determine if Chapo and Garcia are the same person.

I don't mean to tell the Florida authorities how to do their jobs, but maybe, after convicting this Pedro Gracia for murder, they should have put him in jail.

It makes me wonder if the reporter paid any attention to what he/she was writing. Was this Pedro Garcia person an escapee, or what. The article sure doesn't make it clear.

Just another happy day in the land of illegal aliens, hey amigo?

Fernando Chapo, 29, arrested for murder... an illegal immigrant from Mexico... used several aliases... had an identification under another name... spoke through an interpreter in court... had the same date of birth and physical description as a man named Pedro Garcia, who was convicted of murder... said he had the false identification so he could get a job...

"had the false identification so he could get a job" -- at least he was looking for work. /sarc

Hey Yankee! You Can Kiss My Family Values

We need a few more million just like Fernando Chapo to prove that it isn't racism pushing the Minutemen to lounge on our borders with their telephones handy.

Chapo, who spoke through an interpreter in court, said he had the false identification so he could get a job.

Let me guess it was a Matricula Card issued by the Mexican Consulate or an IL driver's license.

Disgusting. So now we'll go back to Mexico, where Fox will protect him. This is another good one to fax to W.
