Report from Chappaqua: The "Agreement" Hillary has lost the WH, forever, and more, much more..
one man's opinion....

Posted on 05/24/2005 8:09:56 AM PDT by ken5050

The compromise deal announced last night on judicial nominations will one day prove to be the opening strike in one of the greatest political battles ever waged in this country. There is much sadness in Chappaqua, for Hillary Clinton has today realized that any remote chance she ever had a becoming president has now evaporatated forever. And the Democrat party may well be in its final states of existence, its death throes, as we know it today. Follow along, as together we peel back the layers of the political onion to unearth the truth...

IMO this helps Hillary Clinton.

Agree with that. I believe it will be difficult if not impossible to get a united GOP in '08, making a third party candidate (similar to Perot in '92) likely. Bill Clinton won the Presidency with 43% of the popular vote in '92, and Hillary has not forgotten that, you can be sure.

Did you read the piece. My point is that McCain, by taking on the Dems, can win the base back over..

Interesting theory. However, Graham has to be re-elected in 06 and he has not been the most popular even before the compromise. I doubt he will even win in the primary. I voted for him but do all in my power to make sure he does not win the next time.

True. Warner or Richardson would definitely be the lesser of two evils in that scenario. As would Evan Bayh.

I say we nominate Zell Miller.

I put Bayh with Biden, Hillary, and the rest of them. He voted to ban the .30-30.

If Hillary runs against McLoon in 2008, I will vote for Hillary

You've got to be freaking kidding me.

I would vote for Satan before I would vote for Hillary. Every election is about the lesser of two evils. And Hilldebeast is certainly more evil than Satan, everybody knows that.

And ANY Republican is better than ANY demonrat.

It doesn't matter who runs. You all have to vote, no matter what. What is all this "I'm staying home if . . ." crap I'm reading?

No for several reasons.

1)By the time McCain 'recants' on his heresy, and stands up for Bush's SC nominee, Lincoln Chafee will see close poll numbers and bolt instead. The Dems have about 6 or so more RINOs to tap for judicial nomination fights. McCain was only 1 weapon in their arsenal.

2)McCain's Climate Stewardship Act has permanently destroyed any reputation he may have had as a friend of free enterprise. A fairly large plurality of GOP voters still support this economic system and are unafraid to be called 'Free Traitors' for doing so.

3)McCain-Finegold has been used to silence a large number of conservative activists who remember this well. They see McPain as having handed MoveOn.Org a monopoly on political speech and they're mad as heck.

4)McCain's infamous icy condescension and contempt for religious conservatives has earned him a life's worth of unrelenting hatred from evangelical conservatives. A mass endorsement of Hillary! by these people would send Big Jawn a message that the GOP ain't no plantation and he has no right to inherit the manor even if it was.

McCain is done. You can stick a fork in that turkey.

When did he take on the Dems? They wiped the floor with his face yesterday. They rolled him like a cheap drunk.

In a Hillary vs. McCain matchup, conscience would force me to go 3rd party but were the race close, I would hope for a Hillary win. Better to have a visible enemy and a closer target than the enemy leading the party and fostering no meaningful opposition.

Okay - big dumb question from me. I have not been following Bush's proposed judicial appointments very closely. In your opinions, are they really "conservatives" or moderates, or RINOs or what are they looking like? I'm just really fed up with the whole "moderate" business.

He'll have to do it without me. I'll actively work for his defeat. Whether it is with a 3rd party candidate or a dem I haven't decided.

My take...Hillary! is a huge winner because Senate pubbies have no leader except McCain, who will exploit anything or anyone for a headline. Hillary! (and her pet Newt) can now take over the show in prep for whatever she choses to do.

As for '08, if McCain is anywhere on the ticket, The Base will stay home. I've held my nose to vote in all but a few presidential races, starting in '76, but I will not go to the polls if McCain is on the ballot. (Okay, maybe I'll vote state/local races and write in Ronald Reagan for president.)

These seven RINOs need to be defeated wherever they run next...in their primaries or by dem opponents. Reagan got more done with a dem majority than this GPO 'majority' will ever be able to deliver. Forget the nosecount...the sooner these losers are sent home, the better.
