Report from Chappaqua: The "Agreement" Hillary has lost the WH, forever, and more, much more..
one man's opinion....
Posted on 05/24/2005 8:09:56 AM PDT by ken5050
The compromise deal announced last night on judicial nominations will one day prove to be the opening strike in one of the greatest political battles ever waged in this country. There is much sadness in Chappaqua, for Hillary Clinton has today realized that any remote chance she ever had a becoming president has now evaporatated forever. And the Democrat party may well be in its final states of existence, its death throes, as we know it today. Follow along, as together we peel back the layers of the political onion to unearth the truth...

I've been saying since the last general election that I believe McCain will be the GOP nominee. I don't want him, but if it comes to McCain versus The Hildabeast, obviously I'll vote to stop the 'beast. People say they'd vote for Hellary instead because at least they know where she stands, well how could the unknown be any worse?

Good morning.
The whole "nuclear option" thing is smoke and mirrors. Nothing is etched in stone and the party currently in the majority can do what wants as long as it has the will to do so. One election can change the balance and the rules at the same time.

Yes, I saw the ire that McCain inspired during the 2000 primary season, and its tough to forget. But unless some other Republican candidate emerges out of the shadows SOON, McCain is the only possible candidate that would have the requisite positive name familiarity to get the mushy middle to vote for him.
Elections are won by dragging over the middle, we all see how hard Hillary is trying to position herself there. When push comes to shove, there are a lot of people here who have to admit they hate Hillary worse than they hate McCain. I have to count myself as one of them.

However, I won't bother going if the choice is McStupidlyingbastard or the EVIL. OK, but do us all a favor, and don't vote for any third party candidate who actually thinks they have a viable chance of doing even better in 2012. We don't need a Nader, let the left wingers shoot themselves in the foot that way.

I have to say, the Hildebeest trumps all for me. I can't imagine the Repubs putting up ANYONE who could get me to vote for Hilary. If I ever tried to vote for Hilary my hand would wither up as I touched the lever....

1) McCain gets good press when he obeys Peter Jennings and does the will of the left. When he deviates, he's a Right Wing Nut all over again. When Chafee laments the fact that John has gone over to the Dark Side on judges, he becomes the next "Saint Jeffords of The Independent Mind."
2)In and of itself, The Climate Stewardship Act won't sway an election. it will make Club For Growth, CofC and any of the other well heeled conservative business groups think twice before they back him early in the primary season.
3) If he changes his tune on 527s, it will be 'fair' in the sense that no one has 1st Amendment Rights any more. It won't sell to anyone who isn't a wonk.
4) Support for HRC from the Right is no more implausible now then Chuck Colson's endorsement of Jimmy Carter was in 1976. Ford's wing of the party was seen as Plutocratic and quasi Limousine Liberal. McCain can come off that way when he hobnobs with his 'in crowd.'
oh, and 5) The Kennedy McCain Leave no Illegal Behind Act. The GOP would just love a candidate that promises to legitimize all 20 million illegals we have in the country right now and shovel them piles of our hard earned money.
McCain jumped the shark. He's over like Fonzerelli.

Just to be clear, I cannot stand Mc Cain. I think he is a selfish power monger who's not quite playing with a full deck.
That said, I really really do not think McCain will get the nomination. Ken's article is very interesting, and worthy of discussion. Even if it was McCain, I would still vote for the Republican party over the democrats, because the Presidency is really more than just one guy. It's not a monarchy.
All of your arguments might be valid, but I could never, ever sit out or vote for the woman who, IMO, had Vince Foster killed. I am not a tin-foil, but I really believe that. She is not just a bad person. I really believe that she is sinister. We could muddle through a one term McCain presidency, and work for the next election. But the damage that Hitlery would do might just be the end of our country as we know it.

I don't play golf full time right now in my life. I am only 31. But boy do I see my schedule filled with playing golf in November 2008. Count me and my money out of 2008 if McCain is the nominee. I would rather vote for Sammy Hagar for Prez than this scam artist.
The thing is...my family agrees and so do many friends. The GOP is gonna have a bitch of a time trying to pull funds from the base like they did with W/Cheney if they put McCain on the ticket with their full support.
Jeb doesn't need to be running yet. 2012 is a good time for him if even then.

McCain will get lots of Democrat votes from people afraid to see Hillary as Commander-in-Chief.

I think for many people...they'd just as soon have somebody tell them to their face..that they are going to take things away from them, for the common good.
At least Hillary does that...

We don't know where Hillary or McCain really stand anymore. Both are becoming Centrists. Both want to appease both parties.

Good morning.
Jeb Bush will never be President precisely because we don't like the idea of a Bush dynasty.
McCain will never be President because he is unable to hide his true nature when stressed.

Republicans will never trust McCain with the nomination. However, McCain has positioned himself perfectly to switch parties and run for president as a Democrat. If he had the guts to switch parties, the momentum that he would generate could sweep Hillary in the primaries. He would be very formidable in a national election as many Red states would be up for grabs (McCain in AZ, McCain and Byrd in WV, McCain and Lindsay in SC, and don't forget FL!) while the Blue would happily choose a moderate Democrat over any of the conservatives that will likely end up with the the Republican nomination.
To: brazzaville
Who does that leave us with? We don't have that much time left.
To: hunter112
A vote for a third party is a vote for hope.
Delusional hope, nonetheless.
A vote for either McInsanetraitorbackstabber or the EVIL is a vote for death and the destruction of the Republic.
