Vanity: Alternatives to RNC
Vanity | n/a | babyface

Posted on 05/24/2005 5:50:39 AM PDT by babyface00

Listening to Bill Bennett's show this morning, I heard a lot of callers echo the same sentiment that I feel - "not one dime to the RNC".

I think this is a valid reaction to the current duplicity by the RINOs in the Senate - any money given to the RNC helps support turncoats like McCain.

One alternative, and an attractive one, is to redirect funds that would normally go to the RNC, directly to candidates that actually are republicans. There's a downside to this though, in that you don't have the influence as an individual that the RNC (supposedly) has over a candidate by virtue of the pooled funds.

So, I'm wondering if there are any valid national alternatives to the RNC - organizations which support Republican values and distribute their funds to people other than McCain, DeWhine, and Voinivich, to name a few.

Just remember that without the "seven", the Republicans do not have a majority in the Senate. Without a majority, you have folks like Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton in Senate leadership.

I'm not saying you should necessarily donate to the RNC or any moderate candidates. But, just remember the politics of it all. Without moderate Republicans, you end up with liberal Democrats running the show.

Ronald Reagan put it best when he said, "If you agree with me 80% of the time, you are my friend."

Thanks for all the great suggestions.

I haven't yet given up on the party, per se (although the Constitution Party does sound interesting), but I think republicans need to do some housecleaning.

The RNC has had its chance - we've given them money, a majority in both houses, and a pretty decent Republican president. I'm not ready to give up on the small-r republicans, but there are too many democrats pretending to be big-r Republicans.

I'm going to research the Club for Growth and Team America. It sounds like a combination of the two might be a valid alternative to the RNC. Plus, I'll be supporting my local candidates (Blackwell) because I belive individual donors have more clout donating to their own representatives than they would supporting out-of-state candidates - that support is best accomplished (IMHO) through a national organization.

I really wish there was a national PAC that took a conservative stand across the board so I could concentrate my "national funds" on one organization, rather than diluting what little I have to donate. What's involved in setting up a PAC?

Why hasn't somebody set up a "FreeRepublicans" PAC? FR has the membership and seems poised to be a strong PAC right out of the gate.

I agree. Third parties don't have much chance. We need to clean house and force our party to back toward high morals and solid integrity. If we can get rid of McCain, we would also be instantly more pychologically stable.

I used to post this quite a bit last year because I felt we were being sold out by the Democrats and the Republicans. It is even more evident now than then, that the distance between the Reps and the Dems does not exist. The New World Order (Reps, Dems, the UN) are playing their cards to undermine the US Constitution and replace it with the EU Socialist version.

I had suggested that Patriotic Americans ( Reps and Dems) change their registration from their current party to a third party. They watch these numbers and if they change there is big repercussions. It is an indicator that they are losing or gaining power. The registration does not mean you MUST vote for that party candidate. Although now, many just might do it.

We had real down to earth true Americans in our Congress. We can still send people we know to Congress. People that will uphold and defend the US Constitution and our Christian Values. Write in's and favorite sons and daughters - NO political parties!!

My Old Post:
The Dimms and the Republicans JUST WILL NOT HEAR the AMERICAN People, we have no place else to go for representation in Congress: Let's see, elections 2006,

I don't like that idea. I would rather support the Club for Growth, Team America, and individual Senators and Representatives. Let's leave freerepublic as it is.

You forgot the communist party. If we support any of the ones you listed, we are helping the communist party and their alternatively named democratic party.

The Club For Growth is an excellent alternative to giving to the RNC. They support true conservative pro-growth candidates only.

By pro-growth do you mean open borders? The Club for Growth was founded by Stephen Moore and he is the defacto head of the open borders lobby. Stephen Moore is perfectly willing to sacrifice our security, our schools and our hospitals and our culture as long as he can get an unlimited supply of cheap taxpayer subsidized third world labor for his big business friends.

Don't be fooled! By giving money to the Club for Growth you are empowering them to hold a club over the head of conservative Republicans who might otherwise favor securing our borders.

I understand if you don't want to have any money go to the specified people with whom you disagree. But I also hear people saying they are fed up with all the Republicans.

I don't understand the logic of that at all. You shouldn't tar them all with the RINO brush simply because they don't have the votes to win every issue.

Get candidates to replace the RINOS and win their seats if it is possible.

I completely agree there, 527s and PACs are the way to go. Let's make this a "Not One Damn Dime" election cycle for the RNC.

My mistake! I said Conservative Party because I suppose that is what I was thinking. I meant Constitutional Party.

The simple truth is that this deal gave us some of what we want and spared us potential political fallout. Yes, there was a strong possibility of the Democrats making us look bad by using the "nuclear option", especially come '06 elections.

Conservatives have to lose this "all or nothing" viewpoint or it is going to end up being the "nothing" option.

Am I a moderate? No. Do I agree with moderates? No. Do I know that without moderate Republicans we end up with a liberal government? YES!
