SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Mayor Jim West yesterday apologized for using "poor judgment," but rejected a demand by local business leaders to resign amid charges that he offered city jobs to men he met in homosexual chat rooms. Mr. West, 55, apologized for using "poor judgment in my private life." He didn't elaborate, but has previously said he visited the Internet site Gay.com and had relations with adult men. It was his first press conference since returning from a brief leave of absence.

I watched the jerk's entire statement yesterday on TV, and I'm still trying to figure out exactly what he apologized for. He's got Clinton's old playbook, and he's following it word for word.

would we be similarly upset if a hetero male just happened to be hitting the porn channels at work and hiring statueque females?......
we wouldn't even hear of it...
nor would we hear of it if this was a Demoncrat mayor.....infact, they would hold demonstrations for him wondering why we are all so bigoted...
having said that, his crime if proven would be using office computers, and he could be charged with sexual harassement if it was proved he acted on favorable or unfavorable treatment from his lovers.....
and having said all that, I think he probably does have a history of going for the young guys....probably has been doing that since early on as a deputy and then as a state legislator....
he should resign but in today's world, no one has any shame anymore.....
the spokesman-review has had an ongoing legal battle with the city over some sneaky finacial deals that cost the city millions upon millions........all that was settled just one week before the newspaper rag came out with this espose'....
while I think West is disgusting and should resign, I find it very suspicious that the rich newspaper family found it the right time to attack....
this is the same newspaper that never ever questioned Tom Foley, democrat, even though I have heard many rumors about him.....
Time for this mayor to resign.

I don't care what party he is in, personally, he should resign.
I actually like this guy. Assuming he's innnocent of the criminal charges, he shouldn't resign. He's anti-gay agenda, even though he's gay. Those are the kinds of gays I can tolerate. Let 'em keep it in the bedroom, not in my face. I prefer a conservative homo who wants to keep it in the closet to a pro-gay agenda hetero lib anyday!
I have read posting on DU regarding Mayor West. What really makes me chuckle is how DUmmies have quickly dropped the "It's just sex!" annoying squeal they made when it was Bill Clinton on the hot seat. That being said, Mayor West should resign. I am merely pointing out the lefts utter hypocrisy on this matter.
