Rats Claim Two More Nominees to be Torpedoed in Filibuster Deal
Monday, May 23, 2005 | Kristinn

Posted on 05/23/2005 9:01:12 PM PDT by kristinn

In Tuesday's edition of The New York Times, unnamed Democrats claim that two more of President Bush's nominees will be torpedoed as part of an unwritten codicile to the announced bipartisan agreement by 14 senators on filibustered judicial nominees.

The written agreement singled out the nominations of Myers and Saad as not being guaranteed an up or down vote on the Senate floor.

From The New York Times comes this signal of further betrayal: "Democratic officials said an unwritten aspect of the pact is that two nominees not named in the deal - Brett Kavanaugh and William J. Haynes - would not be confirmed and would be turned aside either at the committee level or on the floor."

well, gee, I'm shocked! But then some wish to spin we won still.

Mr. President, tell the Congress to go to hell. Strip these RINO's of all benefits. Recess your appointees and fund challenges to the likes of DeWine and the rest.

Congress is now as much an enemy of this country as the Judiciary.

Let's be honest & call a spade a spade here. This "deal" is a power grab by a legislative body of an executive power. This "sense of the Senate" comes out as being more important than leveling off the imbalance of power that the Constitution option was supposed to start to fix.

Susan Collins has already said she supports Owen and I'm sure others have as well. So I don't think that's a secret part of the deal.

I think John McCain thinks he WILL get the nod in 08. This egomaniac is in for a wake up call. Once he realizes that we want nothing to do with his sorry ass, he will try and undermine our party again by going third party. Then...Hitlery to the "rescue"!

>>>If this deal does through, then I will vote Democrat in 2006. At least I'll know what I'm voting for! Clearly, I've been mistaken as of late.<<<

Not mistaken, we have been had, screwed, laid up, trashed, used, put up wet, abused and basically lied to.

I have already contacted the RNC, I want my money back!

TT

Recess appointments are sounding better and better.

I watched Susan Collins breathlessly exclaiming to Chris Matthews tonight, how wonderful this compromise is "for the sake of Congress" or some such.

These people don't seem to understand that we could give a flying flip about "the sake of Congress." We're more concerned about the survival of our CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC and our SUPREME COURT.

I knew this was coming, but I figured that the Rats might at least wait long enough for the ink to dry before they broke their end of the "deal."

Time for conservatives to launch their OWN "nuclear option".

A couple of these Senators ran opposing the Filibuster. They are or our liars. Landrieu and Salazar. All Military bases should be shut down in these areas if they are on the list.

Sure, you'll end up like me with Feingold & Kohl, "represented" by someone that consistently votes against *every* d@mn thing you believe in.

All hands on deck.. The NYT's is trying to save the base from mutiny. There is nothing about these two that the rats could not have retained by backing off the filibuster.

Frist is commited to bringing them all to a vote. The battle lines will be drawn again and the rats will have to make the same descision that Dirty Harry made the bad guys make. Do you feel lucky?

I was just watching these slimeballs (BOTH Reps and Dems) on Nightline, patting each other on the back, smiling and preening before the cameras and it was nauseating! They talked about mutual 'Trust' and 'Respect' over and over but kept ignoring the fact that they are there to represent their constituent's interests and not submerge themselves in the collegiality of the Senate 'Club'.
Frankly, I'm disgusted and more so at these cave-in Republicans who don't appear to know how to wield power and seem to be unable to disturb the creases in their shirts by getting down to business. All the same irrespective of Party affiliation IMHO.

It's a power grab by McCain, Graham and Warner who resent the Bush "machine". Why else would you defy your own party's president?

Do you people even think before posting? Senate confirmed appointees serve for life. Recess appointments expire after a year. The Dims would love nothing more than for Bush to recess appoint from now until January of 2009.

Moreover, many nominees would refuse recess appointments. For ex., Janice Brown is already a state Supreme Court justice.
