WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A group of U.S. Senate moderates struck a deal on Monday intended to avert a showdown over President Bush's stalled judicial nominees, a member of the bipartisan group of negotiators said. "We've got a deal," Nebraska Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson told reporters. Senators plan to announce details at a news conference shortly.

Bad
The link doesn't say what is the deal but the poll question came up at the same time. It asked if I approved of McCain's deal. That is all I needed to know to vote no. Too bad Hell No! wasn't an option.
Bad I've decided. Extraordinary circumstances are going to be when there's a judge that is deemed to right wing.
Well the Republicrats have caved and have thrown at least 2 judges under the bus. I do hope that these moderates are defeated for re-election.
Somebody help me out here. It looks as though all the Rats succeeded in doing was preserving the filibuster until the next time they decide to use it at which time Frist can make a cloture motion and it can be gotten rid then if necessary.Am I right or wrong? Bush's nominees will get there mup or down vote. Right?
The weak-willed RINOs will stick to their deal and vote against any cloture, effectively Jim Jeffordsing the so-called majority. The good news is that we will get a few judges confirmed. The bad news is that the cost will be too high.
I do believe we have been betrayed by those we elected to
represent us. We have been handed over to the enemy for the
sake of "senate" tradition. I hereby pledge to withhold
monies from ANY republican group however far removed from
this act of treachery. I certainly hope that we will not be
further insulted by some self serving pile of excrement
posing as an elected representative whining that we simply
don't understand the intricacies of the "revered senatorial
body".
Cowards have no place in the role of leadership and we are
unfortunate indeed to be led by just such a miserable lot.
BAD, BAD, BAD!!!! The specter of filibuster for any judicial appointment is a clear defeat for the Constitution and the American people.
They think we will react like those democrats who get screw by their own leaders.
No - we shall retaliate, RINOs. You will all be Daschled next election.
Irony. In the name of averting majority tyranny, a minority of 14% asserts itself.
Yep, and without doing it the old fashioned way, by twisting arms, or paying off (back scratching type) folks to support your side. They did it unilaterally, in such a way that no one could counter their move. Very undemocratic, very unrepresentive. If it were a state legislature doing this, I do believe it would be a violation of the clause of the Constitution that requires the federal government to guarantee a republican form of government to the states. This was a very unrepublican move.
I looked up Moderate Republican in the dictionary, it was listed as a synonym for Democratic tool.
Republican Senate does what it does best ... fold tents.
Dark Side election getting set up for 2008
The Princess of Darkness, hiLIARry

John McEgo (architect of that excellent ... for democrats ... campaign finance reform)
in which McCain will lose ... come general election time the media will turn on him and he will be savaged will Keating Five Ads and Stories.
It's always bad to be a wimp, it just encourages the bullies more.
over my dead body, there's not enough support for Mc-Sellout in the base and the base owns the primaries.
There are only 48 Republicans in the Senate. The other 7 are traitors.
It appears this deal just kicks the can down the road. What will the Senate look like in 06 or 08?
