I don't understand the anger either...the GOP has been steadily winning elections since 1994 and with the exception of the '98 debacle have played their cards very carefully and deliberately. People need to realize getting Owens and Brown are HUGE, because they both represent areas that the left are scared to death of: a strong woman who isn't a NOW poster-hag and an educated smart articulate minority female with conservative values. I see this as a pretty big GOP win with a Rove-ian smell to it, on the surface it appears as a cave or weakness but dig a little deeper and wait it out before going ballistic. This whole episode has exposed a chasm of weakness in the liberal democrats to the entire nation..let it play out.

There is no way they are making a deal about the President's nominees without consulting the White House. If what you say is true, we can expect the President to clean the clock of Frist, McCain and everyone else involved with it. If it is true, then I must conclude that Bush is extremely weak in controlling his own party.

"I'd vote for Hillary over McStain."
Don't say that. Don't even whisper that. Find someone else to vote for.....Romney or someone, but not H3ll.

Dems win because the Democrats can still & WILL filibuster President Bush's Supreme Court nominees. This will mean no chance to overturn Roe V Wade. This is all about abortion. May God have mercy on our country if this "agreement" holds. First read my long time tag line.
When the time comes for a Supreme Court nomination, if the filibuster is still in play, Bush will nominate one of the woman conservative judges who should get through tomorrow. i.e. Janice Rogers Brown, or Priscilla Owens.
That will make a filibuster less likely, or if the socialists(Dems) do filibuster those women, the dumb Republicans might be able to do away with the filibuster 51-50 since the women judges were already approved by the Senate. - Tom

We're talking into a drainpipe here...Those who came on this thread and starting condemning Republican before they even knew what the "deal" was won't listen to reason....I'm going home. There's no more light to be shead on this at the moment, what with all of the hysteria going on. People were obviously primed for a nuclear option, and they're not going to get it....at least not for awhile.
So, the Dems retreat to regroup; we get three of our most conservative nominees; and we all live to fight another day. That's the bottom line.
To: Fledermaus
I missed that part. Now we get to hear Reid gloat, uggghhh. sorry.
To: OXENinFLA
Frist is on CNN right now
To: Lloyd227
I don't think that the president can override this, but the rest of your take is correct.

"...but the next time they filibuster a nominee, NUKE TIME without further ado"I only wish I could muster your optimism....

In light of the spirit and continuing commitments made in this agreement, we commit to oppose the rules changes in the 109th Congress, which we understand to be any amendment to or interpretation of the Rules of the Senate that would force a vote on a judicial nomination by means other than unanimous consent or Rule XXII.There you have it. The undersigned have promised to allow the democrats to fillibuster any judge Bush puts forth for SCOTUS in the 109th Congress.
This makes me sick. Bleeecch!
To: ambrose; rdb3
Yeah, put Janice on SCOTUS. Oh the irony there.
