Name one of the filibustered judges they haven't labeled as extreme

True, and they are about to vote YEA on their nominations. That in itself gives the lie to their arguements.

Warner was defeated in the first GOP Senate race in which he ran. That was 1978. I think that it was a primary, but it might have been a caucas selection process.

Unfortunately, the good conservative, who beat Warner and won the GOP nomination, died in a plane crash several months later. The party then turned to Warner as a replacement.

I gave money to Warner in 1984 when he ran for re-election, but never after he voted against Bork in 1986 or 1987, showing what a true RINO he was.

In 1994, Warner refused to back Oliver North, who won the GOP Senate nomination. But it was much worse. Warner recruited and actively backed another RINO, who ran as a independent against Ollie North and Dem candidate Upchuck Robbed. Warner betrayed the whole party and is unworthly of an ounce of loyalty, but I've reluctantly voted for him when the Dem had a chance of winning. Mostly, I voted for a third party candidate running against him.

I wouldn't say that he abandons principle. I would say that he is a blue-blood, to-the-manor-born, country club Republican. Many, but not all, of Warner's principles are in common with the WashPost editorial writers.

I am pleased to see your interpretation of this fold is the same is mine.

I had to sit down when Annette first called me on this an hour ago.

How we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory over and over is nauseating.

We were on the right side in the Lott Affair. You and me and a handful of others. We got Frist...almost my own danged neighbor but he has no control over his troops.

Sad....i am VERY unhappy. McCain?....damn what a Queeg is right.

"In a Senate that is increasingly polarized, the bipartisan center held," Democratic Sen. Joseph Lieberman said Monday night. ... The two-page memorandum of agreement said it is "based upon mutual trust and confidence."... Dems pledge not to filibuster any of Bush's future appeals court or Supreme Court nominees except in 'extraordinary circumstances'...

That's it in a nutshell. Shall we go quietly into the night? or fight one last fight for God and Country?

Yes. He said he did and I believe him.

Hestopped having the votes when the RINOS allowed the Dems to save face, we gave up nothing and got three good judges an up and down vote for sure. The rest of the can was kicked down the alley...

Frist didn't have anything to do with this. It was the traitors - Warner, Collins, DeWine, Snowe, Chafee, et al. Get real. They are the ones who deserve our wrath. Not Frist.

You are forgetting the exception: EXCEPT IN EXTREME CASES. Name one of the filibustered judges they haven't labeled as extreme. Name one.

Yep. Also known as "the weasel clause."

Calm down. This is from FNC

-- snip --Under the terms, Democrats agreed to allow final confirmation votes for Priscilla Owen (search), Janice Rogers Brown (search) and William Pryor, named to appeals court seats. There is "no commitment to vote for or against" the filibuster against two other conservatives named to the appeals court, Henry Saad and William Myers

We just have to work on the other nominations.

I think it will have the opposite effect. They will stay home. This Congress has not lived up to the hype. WH, House and Senate and we still cannot get simple things done. The Dems have made fools of us.

I think we should keep Frist and get rid of McCain, Snowe, Chaffee, and the others. All we need is 40 Senators and we can run the place. Minorities rule you know.

what did the Republicans lose? Nothing, that I have seen.
What did the Dems lose? The 3 judges who are "most conservative" will not be filibusted. And they did not lose face.

I agree. The democrats were forced to back off on the filibusters, and the vote will be called. We won this one. We get to vote like we should have been able to in the first place. The democrats backed down.

Frist has less than NO chanced of winning the '08 presidential primary. He and Pataki were just utterly delsusisonal, about even entering the primaries. This just sealed his fate in a very large way.

see how THIS will bring true conservative voters to the polls like never before.

What are you talking about; we don't even have a candidate that we can trust.
