This is what I liked about O'Reilly when I used to watch him. He was the first interviewer to say "I don't think you answered the question" to his guests.

I love to watch Brit Hume for a similar reason. He is excellent at challenging the assumptions underlying responses. I really appreciate the way he calls liberals to account when they frame a response with some unspoken assumption to support it. Brit is very good, I think, at forcing them to defend their arguments with actual facts, or at pointing out if the basis of their argument is something that is itself argumentative.

To be fair, Russert confronted Dean a few times. For example when Dean said Democrats were'nt pro-abortion, Russert pointed out the extreme (partial birth, parental notification) demo positions leaving Dean stammering. Same thing when Dean called Bernie Sanders a Democrat and Russert said that 'he calls himself a socialist'.

However, Russert could be much better.

I think they are leaving Dean in there for the show he put on. This will make Helliry look a bit more rational, less loonie. Even though we all know better, the fools that read the headlines will think she's not so whacked out.

Good point, she is trying to make herself out as being a moderate and a little more to the right. But to think the Dems under Deranged Dean are capable of such Machiavellian machinations is a bit of a stretch, you must admit.

I think they'll keep Dean as long as they can to save face from having to dump him. But he is a loose cannon and it's only a matter of time before he steps on the toes of another left sacred cow like he did abortion. I'm betting they replace him with a lock-step hard left lib like Pelosi. I can't wait.
