THE group of al-Qaeda's frontman in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, claimed today to have executed an American hostage, in a statement on the Internet accompanied by pictures of his driving licence.
"Your brothers in al-Qaeda in the Land of Two Rivers got their hands on a US pilot who turned out to have bombarded several mosques and the Sheraton hotel in Baghdad during the invasion of Iraq, as well as several civilian homes," according to the statement. It said that "after questioning this infidel, the divine verdict was applied to him".
The statement, whose authenticity could not be verified, did not specify the date of the kidnapping, but it was accompanied by pictures of an Illinois driving licence in the name of Neenus Y Khoshaba, born November 27, 1948.
There was no immediate comment from the US military.
The group led by Zarqawi, Iraq's most wanted man with a $US25 million ($33.05 million) bounty on his head, has claimed a string of devastating attacks as well as kidnappings since the April 2003 fall of the Saddam Hussein regime. THE US military has denied any of its servicemen are missing after the claimed execution of a US pilot in Iraq.
It appears the victim of an apparent hostage-taking and killing may have been Iraqi-American businessman.
Absolutely, but I fear for the worst. But if it turns out to be true, I expect the NY Times and Newsweek to treat it as they would any "prisoner abuse" story....

United we stand against all kinds of terrorism , as only through unity will we be able to eradicate them and bring them to justice.
There is no justification for terrorism against civilian bystanders. And this is the difference between terrorism and guerilla tactics. Guerilla warfare is against institutional oppression. Terrorism is just that - the promotion of terror among non-combatants.
The statement, whose authenticity could not be verified, did not specify the date of the kidnapping, but it was accompanied by pictures of an Illinois driving licence in the name of Neenus Y Khoshaba, born November 27, 1948.
If this guy is a pilot, at age 57 he would have to be a civilian, wouldn't he? No way he could have committed any of the accused acts.
.
You'd think if he was doing all this stuff, he'd have it on film. Osama doesn't do film anymore, either, since he had to run away and hide like a coward from us infidels.
This is confusing on several counts. How could they kidnap an American pilot? How could they know what his specific missions were? What does Koshaba have to do with it? He sounds like an Iraqi businessman, not an American pilot.
I agree it is certainly confusing and I'm still searching for additional information.

Don't you just love it when the ragheads start getting desparate for attention!?!
If he were an American combat pilot, not only would he not be 57 years old, but he would no longer even be in Iraq. He would have long since rotated back to the United States.
Pray for soul of this victim but otherwise - agitprop. Ignore it.
I believe Mr. Zawquari and his ilk will reap what they sow.
I just wish it would happen sooner rather than later.
Unfortunately, the Arab mind thinks and plans in terms of centuries and millenia, while in our culture news more than a day old is old news and our memory goes dead beyond last week's segment of Fear Factor.
The sorry POS. It's probably the truth. It's what Zarqawi does best.
You're right...however, I for one won't forget these atrocities. It is, however, comforting to know that our Maker won't forget either.
I'm with you 100% there...
