Report urges troops sent to border (Minutemen bump)
The Washington Times ^ | 05/23/05 | Jerry Seper

The deployment of 36,000 National Guard troops or state militia on the U.S.-Mexico border would stop the illegal flow of foreigners into America, says a congressional report that credits the Minuteman Project with proving that additional manpower could "dramatically reduce if not virtually eliminate" illegal immigration.

Well, I think it depends where that manpower is. If it's in the border patrol, I dunno... If it's more volunteers then absolutely. Despite being a pro-immigration person, I did admire the way the minuteman did their business. They are simply enforcing the law, which should be enforced (and changed) IMO.

Mr. Gilchrist and Tom Tancredo are shaking trees in Washington, D.C. Wish them well. Help them if you can . .

(The career politicians are trembling over this - what to do - WHAT TO DO!)

"Despite being a pro-immigration person, I did admire the way the minuteman did their business"

That makes about as much sense to me as saying "Despite being a pro-orange juice person, I did admire the way the minuteman did their business".

Since the Minuteman Project has nothing to do with legal immigration, why begin the sentence with "Despite being a pro-immigration person"?

It would only cost about $100 per hour for a Civil Air Patrol Plane to patrol the boarder. They can use digital cameras to transmit photos to the boarder patrol or other law enforcment agencies. Why not use them?

That's a fantastic question. Why not indeed? There are several answers, take your pick.

1. The attitude that if it ain't USBP, it ain't going to be used.

2. We aren't really serious about securing the borders.

3. We're afraid an amateur will make us look bad.

4. Variation: We're afraid an amateur will create an International Incident.

5. Using non-USBP assets will reduce our funding in the next budget cycle, and we may lose senior billets.

Thought we oughta let all illegals in. And used the F word in the process.

Except for the profanity, that's George B's position...I wonder if he'd get zotted from here also...

Yahoo Minutemen!

Minutemen -- who shut down a 23-mile stretch of the Arizona border last month -- served as a model for a government effort to reclaim the southern border of the United States.

Can't get any higher praise than that!

That jumped out at me too. Now they're admitting that America has to "reclaim" our own border?? Gosh, I wonder if anyone has bothered to inform the President?? Disgusting, huh?

GO MINUTEMEN - YOU'RE THE BEST!!

I agree. However, our President doesn't want to defy the possecomitatas law. Har Har. We are losing California to the Mexicans and each Western state will soon be lost one after one. So the possecomitatas law will be the death of America, along with America's leaders.

Well, I think it does - because they are enforcing a law I disagree with. It'd be like admiring a group of citizens who went around pointing out to police where illegal drugs were. It's great that they're doing it better than the bureaucratic and hampered by regulations STATE or FEDS and great that they're volunteering and a shame that bush called them 'vigilantes', and the obvious and blatant media bias that accompanies everythign they do - but I still disagree with the law they're enforcing. I was hoping this bit of objectiveness would get some kudos...

Those on the left that disagree with the law probably despise the minutemen.

Nowadays we have so many laws, unfortunately, that everyone ends up breaking some of them - if respect for the law is what your getting at.

If it's the law you dislike, then I guess you're stuck until it's changed. Are open borders what you want to see in place?

That's not an analogy I would use. IMO, foreign nationals have no legal right to enter this country without first obtaining permission. I equate it to breaking into someone's home and I would rat someone out if I was witnessing an attempt to break and enter.

Maybe, but I don't really much care.

Seeing millions of foreign nationals (and their American supporters) flouting so many laws with close to nothing being done about it, ticks me off.

I take full responsibility for zotting the troll. Profanity was the issue. The opinion was irrelevant.

As for W, I am sure he would be welcome here.
